I love a good recall to slow puppies down in play. It helps them learn to take pauses and breaks which can help keep arousal levels down.

Don't we all wish we could be as in sync with everything as Rosie is with her monster? We're trying to be more in sync with posting more often!

When the puppies are good at sharing 😍

Pepper is learning that sitting to greet someone is much more reinforcing than jumping on them. She gets rewarded if she sits or no attention if she jumps. In fact, the person just turns and walks away if she jumps. She'll repeat behavior that works for her.

Finn is doing such a good job settling when we are out and about on leash. I love watching busy, distracted puppies learn how rewarding it can be to be calm and focused.

A great way to build a strong recall is to reward random check ins during play. It helps the puppy learn to pay attention to where you are in the environment when there are exciting things happening around them. It also helps them learn to take pauses and breaks in play to help slow them down so they don't get overly aroused. Poppy and Finn are showing off their excellent check ins with me!
