$365M state funding, plus $120M from Portland and $88M from Multnomah County.
Upside:
Keeps the Blazers anchored for 20 years, gives the Portland Fire first-class facilities, and updates the arena to attract bigger concert tours that usually skip us.
Downside:
Big public price tag for a billionaire-owned team when city budgets are already tight.
My Two Cents:
If public dollars are going toward this, let’s make it feel like us. Take a cue from the new PDX airport and bring in local PNW design, local vendors, and Portland businesses inside the arena.
