Four years ago we got the keys to an empty room in Old Town and started building Goodies from scratch.

Looking back through these photos, it’s kind of unbelievable how much life passed through this space.

Plant swaps. Kimchi-making classes. Gimjang. Fireside gatherings. Sketch clubs. Workshops. Pop-ups. Dinners. Late nights after closing.

Somehow this little storefront kept finding new ways to bring people together.

A lot of our favorite memories happened inside these walls.

These photos only capture a small part of it, but they remind us how much this community shaped Goodies over the last four years.

We’re really proud of what grew here.

And very excited for what comes next. 💫

Sharing a heartfelt thank you to everyone who braved the Portland weather and joined us yesterday for Hanami. Nothing fills our cup like seeing the ways our community comes together to gather- and yall really showed up. Big shout out to Mia and Mai for organizing this get together with us and allowing us to share our space during Hanami season. Taking time to organize is no easy feat (especially while running a small business) and together it was made possible. The thing about community is that we can share the load to lighten the lift on each other, as well as share in the joy. Big thanks to for being there with us 🙌🙌🙌

When we built Goodies - we really wanted it to be a space for community and it’s been beautiful to experience true connection and collaboration come to life in the space. We’ve be lucky to meet so many like minded folks along the way that have continued to inspire us in ways that are hard to put into words

Excited to host this special workshop with next month. Join us for a meditative few hours where you’ll learn Sashiko, a Japanese form or functional embroidery - this mending cafe you’ll work on embroidering a tea towel to take home. Feel free to bring garments in need of some beautiful mending as well. Light refreshments provided. 4 years ago, we signed a lease to our first shop here in Oldtown - we got our keys in the dark month of February and got to work restoring a neglected space filling it with love and intention for all the memories we wanted to create here. A month later, we got to experience the wonder of 100 Sakura trees blooming on the Japanese American historian plaza - it felt as if the whole neighborhood came to life in those fleeting weeks the blooms graced the waterfront. Every year since then we’ve treasured this time of year where we get to celebrate with friends and community the coming of spring and see the neighborhood filled with families and visitors from all over who come to enjoy the beauty together.

Over the last few years, our relationship and connection to our neighbors and community have deepened and many now feel like family. We’ve made so many beautiful memories together

It is that time of year again now - and as we watch the cherry blossoms opening up, we’re reminded of the beautiful days to come surrounded by our community. We look forward to seeing old friends and new faces as people pass through the neighborhood, and as always want to create an inviting space for all to enjoy. •
