What does Pambiche mean?
Pambiche, a lingual bastardization of the words Palm Beach as pronounced by a native speaker of Cuban Spanish.   Why Palm Beach?  Palm Beach is not just a famous resort town in southeastern Florida, located on an island off the coast.  Beyond that, the literal words “palm” “beach” conjure images of a tropical beach lined with swaying palm trees, a romantic island getaway, escaping the stresses of life, slowing down, kicking back, sharing a comfortable meal with a gentle breeze and the lively pulse of Cuban rhythms.  So, when you can’t get away for a Caribbean vacation you can at least get down to Pambiche for an authentic taste of Old Havana, sip on a mojito in our landmark sidewalk café, feel the rumba, son and cha-cha-cha and experience genuine Cuban hospitality!

A palm-lined tropical beach is highly desirable because it acts as a visual and sensory escape from the stress of everyday life, blending warm weather, stunning natural beauty, and the promise of relaxation. These locations offer a “paradise” aesthetic characterized by swaying trees, white sand, and turquoise water that promotes mental well-being, tranquility, and a sense of carefree adventure.

Every May Pambiche celebrates Mothers Day “Día de Las Madres” venerating our family matriarchs as well as the divine mother figures in Cuban culture. Come celebrate “El día de las madres” this Sunday at Pambiche!

At Pambiche the “homage to mothers” is a central theme that shapes both the restaurant’s identity and its cultural offerings. This tribute manifests in two primary ways: the celebration of the restaurant’s own family matriarch and the religious veneration of divine mother figures in Cuban culture.

The Matriarch: Abuela Ninfa
The restaurant serves as a living tribute to Abuela Ninfa, the matriarch and inspiration behind Chef John Maribona’s menu and recipes.
* Family Legacy: Much of the menu is built on family recipes passed down through generations, honoring the women who “loved, taught, and nourished” the family.
* Annual Celebrations: Every February, the restaurant officially celebrates Abuela Ninfa’s birthday alongside its own anniversary, reinforcing her role as the “Patrona de Pambiche”. Every May Pambiche celebrates “Día de Las Madres” venerating our family matriarchs as well as the divine mother figures in Cuban culture.

Religious Tributes: The Mother of All Orishas
Pambiche also pays homage to the “universal mothers” of Cuban tradition, particularly through elaborate cultural altars.
* Yemayá Altar: Every September 7th, Pambiche curates a special altar for Yemayá, the Orisha of the sea and the “mother of all”.
* Syncretism: This celebration honors Yemayá as a protector of family and a source of life, blending Catholic and Yoruba traditions.
* Community Offerings: Guests are often invited to view these curated displays, which include flowers, candles, and offerings to express gratitude and ask for protection.
