Sometimes it is overlooked that women can also work in this trade and many have found a lot of success working with companies and starting their own businesses. Watch this video where MJ Reed talks about her experience!

We've had a few people ask if students are more successful doing self-paced programs or the in-person journeyman programs and we've usually said is that it's more dependent on their learning style. Some students might thrive better online whereas others might learn better with hands-on classes. In any case, our Admissions & Program Coordinator, Lindsay, took it upon herself to truly look at the numbers. She looked up students who had been issued transcripts, cross referenced those with the courses they took to see if they completed a full program, a few classes, or just one class, like the NEC course, and then checked what license they had obtained on the state website. NEC courses taken alone were not included in this data since those can be taken just for license renewals as well.

The amount of students who had completed self-paced or journeyman programs was not the same amount, however, even with that, you will see that the percentages are very close to the same, showing again that it depends how one learns the best. Keep in mind that there are some students that are almost done with their program, but have one or two classes left to complete or take an exam on, and also some are working to build the amount of hours they need before they take their last course, which is usually Advanced NEC, so that it is freshest in their mind for the state exam, therefore, they were also not included in these numbers.

She also made pie charts to show the success in the limited license programs and those who only needed to complete a few more courses in order to the meet the requirements.

What do you think of these results?

Had a great time interacting with students at the Regional 10 Technical School in Brunswick Maine last Friday! We love to see the younger generation of guys and gals interested in the trades. The lightbulbs filled with candy were a hit!

Hear from this student about what he thinks of our facility and how this is one of the fastest ways to work towards an electrician's license as we don't require extra classes that don't pertain to the trade! Enrollment is still open for our in-person classes on Tuesday or Friday from 8am to 1:30pm! Go here for more info: https://www.maineelectricalinstitute.com/education/full-in-class-program/
