Portland Parks and Recreation is considering opening access to Sacajawea Park from the west side, which is currently blocked by a locked gate on NE Alberta Street. Opening the gate to pedestrians and bikes will improve access to the public park and create a new, safe route through east Cully, but some neighbors have expressed concerns in the past. The Cully Association of Neighbors (CAN) is seeking to gauge whether neighbors support opening the gate to pedestrians and bikes, and have shared a survey link seeking feedback on the issue:

CAN will also be meeting on Wednesday, June 17 at 6:30 pm for their summer Transportation and Land Use meeting, which will include discussion on this topic. See https://www.cullyneighbors.org/calendar/can-transportation-and-land-use-meeting for details.

From Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry:
----
Our new Tree Care Assistance program provides income-qualified property owners within the City of Portland with financial assistance for the maintenance and care of existing trees on single-family, owner-occupied private property. The program helps reduce the cost and burden associated with tree care for lower-income households and improves the health and resilience of private property trees.

Tree care offered includes a tree health assessment, pruning, removal, stump removal, and wood waste removal. The Tree Care Assistance Program is funded by the Portland Clean Energy Fund.

Do I qualify for tree care assistance? To qualify, you must:

* Own and live in a single-family home
* Need care for a tree on your private property (not a street tree)
* Be enrolled in the Portland Water Bureau's Bill Discount Program

Visit https://www.portland.gov/trees/apply-tree-care-assistance for more information.
