November is here - time to rake leaves and clean up the garden, carefully trim and prune some of your shrubs and hedges, plant bulbs, protect vulnerable plants from weather in the winter months and plan for spring. Hope you enjoy the gorgeous fall foliage.

Hey all the solstice approaches!! Hooray for summer!!!

Here in the Pacific Northwest we are all given the gift of our beautiful rose's beginning to bloom this time of year. Its important to remember to give back to the plants by fertilizing them. In the PNW rose bushes should be fertilized either after each blooming cycle or once a month, on roughly the same day. Make sure to select a fertilizer high in nitrogen as roses are nitrogen lovers. There are many fertilizers both organic, and non, that are specifically formulated for roses! Always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Hey everybody it looks like spring just might finally have arrived here in Portland! If you haven't fertilized your roses it not too late. As soon as there is 5" of new growth its time. If you did fertilize back in late March,as many of us did, then its nearly time again. Here in the PNW we should be fertilizing our roses every month, or after each blooming cycle. From late march until September.

P.s. Your climbing roses need about 1.5x as much fertilizer as non climbers.

Almost time to start planting for those mid to late summer crops. Soil temp is getting close to 70 degrees.
