Join us this week as we explore heart health beyond cholesterol. ❤️
Cholesterol numbers matter, but they are only one part of the picture. Inflammation, stress, sleep, metabolic health, movement, nutrition, and other lifestyle factors can all influence cardiovascular health over time.
We’ll be sharing more about what a comprehensive, whole-person approach to heart health can look like—and why prevention matters long before disease develops.
Prevention is powerful. At The Flourish Center, we help patients take a more proactive, whole-person approach to health.

Service Spotlight: Adolescents & Young Adults
Adolescence and young adulthood can bring big changes emotionally, physically, mentally, and socially. As young people move toward more independence, they may face challenges with relationships, school, work, family dynamics, identity, mood, grief, trauma, or the pressure of figuring out who they are becoming.
While some struggles can improve with time, maturity, and supportive relationships, others may benefit from more structured care. Counseling can provide a grounded space for adolescents and young adults to process what they are carrying, build healthier coping tools, and feel supported as they navigate this important stage of life.
Jody L. Cecil, LPC, of Taking Root Counseling, offers support for adolescents and young adults at The Flourish Center with the whole person and family system in mind. For teens, parent or guardian involvement may be part of the process when appropriate. For young adults, care may include exploring the support systems, relationships, and guidance that help them move forward with more steadiness and confidence.

Did you know your nervous system affects nearly every aspect of your health?
Your nervous system helps regulate your stress response, digestion, sleep, mood, heart rate, hormones, immune function, pain perception, and even how safe or overwhelmed you feel in your body.
When the nervous system is under chronic stress, the body can stay in “survival mode” longer than it was designed to. Over time, this may show up as fatigue, poor sleep, digestive changes, muscle tension, anxiety, irritability, inflammation, hormone shifts, or feeling like your body is constantly on high alert.
At The Flourish Center, we look at the whole picture. Supporting your health is not just about treating symptoms — it is about understanding what your body has been carrying and helping it return to a steadier, more regulated state.
Small, consistent practices like breathwork, gentle movement, nourishing meals, better sleep rhythms, connection, therapy, bodywork, and time outside can all help support nervous system health.
Your body is always communicating. Learning how to listen is part of healing.

This week at The Flourish Center, we’re focusing on the nervous system and stress physiology with Jen Owen, NP.
Stress is not just something we feel emotionally. It can show up in the body through fatigue, tension, sleep changes, digestive symptoms, blood sugar shifts, inflammation, hormone changes, and that familiar feeling of being “wired but tired.”
Your nervous system plays a role in nearly every aspect of health. When the body is constantly on alert, it can be harder to rest, repair, digest, sleep well, regulate energy, and feel grounded.
This is why Lifestyle Medicine and integrative care are about more than nutrition and exercise. Supporting the nervous system is an important part of helping the whole body function more smoothly.
This week, we’ll be sharing more about how chronic stress affects the body, what stress physiology can look like, and how integrative care can help you better understand what your body may be trying to tell you.
Stress physiology is real, measurable, and important.

Summer is here, and with it comes a natural shift in what our bodies may need most. ☀️
In our newest blog, Jen Owen, NP shares a seasonal summer health perspective rooted in Chinese Medicine, with a focus on supporting the heart, small intestine, circulation, digestion, hydration, movement, and cooling seasonal foods and herbs.
Summer can be a beautiful time to lighten up, move your body, enjoy fresh local produce, sip cooling teas, and reconnect with energy, joy, and vitality. Small seasonal shifts can make a big difference in how you feel.

At The Flourish Center, we are grateful to have Julia Chapman, LMFT, PMH-C as part of our collaborative community.
Julia offers individual and couples therapy, with areas of focus that include trauma, relationships, perinatal mental health, and emotional healing.
Trauma can affect the way people see themselves, relate to others, experience safety, and move through the world. Julia’s work supports trauma survivors in processing shame, rebuilding a sense of power and safety, and beginning to rewrite the stories they carry about themselves.
Her approach is grounded, compassionate, and deeply respectful of each person’s lived experience.

Hormones affect far more than periods.
During perimenopause, hormone shifts can influence sleep, mood, energy, metabolism, inflammation, brain fog, anxiety, libido, and even how resilient you feel under stress.
That is one reason this season can feel so confusing. Many women are told their symptoms are “just stress” or “just aging,” when there may be a much bigger picture to understand.
At The Flourish Center, Jen Owen, NP takes an integrative approach to hormone health by looking at the whole person — symptoms, lifestyle, stress, sleep, nutrition, labs, inflammation, and what is actually happening in your daily life.
You deserve support through hormonal transitions, not dismissal.
Schedule a consultation with Jen Owen, NP to discuss personalized support options.
Many women are surprised to learn that perimenopause can begin years before periods actually stop.
You might begin to notice changes such as:
- Poor sleep
- Increased anxiety
- Brain fog
- Mood changes
- Changes in your cycle
If your body feels different, it’s worth paying attention to.
You deserve support through hormonal transitions.
