Tried something new and glad I did! Shelf stable canned bacon. The flavor is totally normal. The texture is a bit soft which would make it great on sandwiches! I plan try a light pre cook next time to see if that changes the texture at all. Mmmm bacon 🤤

When the forsythia is in bloom is when w**d seeds start to germinate. Nows the time in my area to put down some w**d preventer. I like to use corn gluten in my permanent beds. It’s easy to use and safe for pets. It will prevent ALL seeds from germinating so be sure not to use it in areas you plan to plant to seed.

Pruning time! This maple has been over do for a good trim. Start by taking out the old dead wood so you can see if there live wood that still needs thinning. For a healthy weeping Japanese maple you should be able to see through the tree when it’s full of leaves. Keep in mind air flow and light filtration. Get all up in it! 😉

Put a whole egg in the soil?
NO!! Raw egg shells can take a year or more to start to decompose. If it outlasts critters, by the time the shell breaks (and hopefully not explode) it will be rotten and stinky. Also likely to cause fungus, mold, root rot, and pest problems.

Water with the egg water?
Sure! As long you don’t salt your water.

Egg shells in the garden?
Yes! Crush them up good. I like to bake mine first or you can throw them in the dehydrator. They crush better and breakdown faster to release their nutrients.

It is totally true! Don’t rinse off your fruit till your ready to eat and they can last around 4-6 weeks!

"Idk who needs to know this because it took me 25 years and a TikTok to learn but putting your fruit in mason jars rather than the containers they are stored in at the time of purchasing is a HALLELUJAH for me 😅 I tried it after I saw it and will never go back, it keeps the fruit fresh foreverrrrrr."

I’ve had my eye out for sale items this week. Today I put up 16lbs of beef chuck roast. These make fantastic fajitas, stew, or plain old roast beef. So good

Tried a new method today for tomato sauce and I will never do it the old way again! Oven at 400 ( my tomatoes were frozen) about 30 minutes later and I pulled off close to 6 cups of water. Threw the tomatoes in the mill and bam nice thick sauce!

Check out this backyard revamp from early this summer. Got the plants in the ground right before the heat wave hit. Glad to report no permanent losses. The owners find themselves outside more watching the hummingbirds and bees enjoy the flowers as well. What a fun project!
