People used to believe that amethyst wards off drunkenness. Well, it may not be sobering, but it certainly provokes reflection.

My goal has always been to go all the way from Earth to jewelry. Cabbing brings me one step closer! The couple months before the Portland Saturday Market starts up again is a great time to work on it.

When a gemstone forms with spoke-like inclusions, it is described as "trapiche." The amethysts in these earrings are sections of the spoke.

Malachite is one of my favorite stones. Each one is unique and, depending on which way it is cut, it can have stripe or circle patterns. It gives so many options to work with!

I used to dislike my birthstone, but have grown to love it. Fun fact: Peridot has been found in meteorites.

Last week, I had someone tell me this one looks like the Eye of Sauron.
