Vehicle fire on Hwy 59 south of 99. Traffic delays on the feeder road. Porter Fire Department responded, no one was injured roadway will open soon.
Around 1230pm, South Montgomery County Fire Department units staffed by your South County Professional Fire Fighters, were dispatched to a reported fire in a garage attached to a residence in the Benders Landing Estates neighborhood. Units went on location with heavy smoke and fire from a large 2 story home. An immediate second alarm was called due to the size of the home. Units had the scene under control in 45 minutes due to the size of the home and long distance water supply. Homeowners and occupants were out safely. Units on scene were assisted by Porter Fire Department, Spring Fire Department, Timberlakes Volunteer Fire Dept, Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office, and Montgomery County Hospital District.
Thank you Fire Chief Carter Johnson and staff of the Porter Fire Department for hosting our Pathway to Leadership EMC Public Safety Session! #Proud2BeEMC
Sgt. Swickard’s Introduction to Public Safety Class has been very busy with amazing presentations from Chief Craig and K9 Jacob of the Porter Fire Department, Indiana State Police Sgt. Gilbert, and Superior Ambulance service. The students really appreciate when community members volunteer their time to speak to them.

On Friday, the Firefighters of Porter Fire Station 121 visited Joshua 1:9 Learning Center for Fire Prevention Week. The Firefighters showed our students how their fireman gear protects them during a fire. They talked with our students about what to do if there ever is a fire. Our students even demonstrated to the Firemen how they know to Stop, Drop, and Roll!

Our students also took a tour of their fire truck and learned all about what the safety gear on the truck does to help them when saving someone or a building from a fire. We even got to see the lights and siren on the truck! 🚨

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to the Porter Fire Station 121 for showing our students the importance of fire safety. We greatly appreciate all that you did for our students during your visit. You made this a day our students will never forget! We will always keep your Firemen in our prayers to help keep them safe. ♥️

Last Friday, our Joshua 1:9 Learning Center 3rd and 4th Graders embarked on an awesome Field Trip! The students were given a map of Porter/New Caney for the 3rd Graders and of Kingwood for the 4th Graders. Each group was then also given a Scavenger Hunt clue and they had to use the map skills they’ve learned to solve the clue and locate the place on their map. Each group hopped into their van and had to direct their driver (Mrs. Sheila or Ms. Jennifer) on where to go using their map. Sometimes there were differing answers on which way to go, but they did a good job on not getting us “lost!”

It was an awesome learning experience for both groups and both groups really enjoyed it! We got to see Fire Stations, Restaurants, Churches, Hospitals, Schools, Banks, and other important places around these two communities! Our students even received a few surprises along the way! The groups went into the drive-thru and vault of a Bank, had cake pops at Starbucks, had donuts at Pat’s Donuts, saw a Fire Truck and met the Fire Chief, went to the Sheriff’s Office, and even got cow masks at Chick-fil-a!

Our last clue ended each group at a local park where we enjoyed some much-needed activity time and a picnic lunch with our friends.

We want to give a HUGE thank you to the local businesses below in Porter/New Caney and Kingwood who graciously helped us by allowing our students to visit their businesses! This Scavenger Hunt would not have happened without your kindness! ♥️♥️

An ordinary day with a photo shoot at the Fire Station, turned into a memorable one when Firefighter Carr recently proposed to his girlfriend at Station 122.
For many, the station is your home away from home and includes a second family. So proud that Porter Fire could be a part of that special moment.
And it's even more magical that they were able to capture the moment and share the photos with us.

Congratulations! We wish you both the best.

Vertical ventilation is one of those potentially high risk evolutions that occur on the fireground.

This crew was training today on this in order to bring one of our newest members up to speed on this tactic and to get some practice in with the rest of the crew.

Vertical ventilation, when done correctly, provides semi-immediate evacuation of smoke and super heated gases that would lessen your chances of survival should you be trapped and unable to exit.

Additionally, this practice proves effective at making visibility better for firefighters working to find lost /trapped persons and fire.

New stars and stripes can be seen flying high at Station 121 this week, thanks to generous donations from several local business members. A New flagpole has been added with impressive paving in the shape of a maltese cross and is surrounded by beautiful landscaping.

We would like to thanks the following for their donations in making this project possible:

Warren's Southern Gardens and Warren's Rock & Mulch Yard provided the landscaping materials and the following individuals with Warren's Outdoor Living did an outstanding job on installation:
Alfonso Banda and his crew, Lee Porter (Operations Manager) and Brandon Heitzwebel (Sales Designer).

The paver materials were graciously provided by Belgard.

Chad Smith with Water in Motion supplied Kichler LED Lighting Materials to ensure that our flags are illuminated every night.

If you are looking to make some projects of your own come to fruition, as always we appreciate you supporting the local business community members that support us.

If you are driving by, take a peek at this new area. We are excited to have this as a feature at Station 121.

Our Wildland Crew with ST-124 has been busy over the last week. In the last 6 days, they have responded to 4 large fires where they have engaged in firefighting activities.

They have had a break in the weather and wildfire activity allowing the crews to recover and get some rest.

Wildfire activity is predicted to become more active this week.
Currently ST-124 is the only Strike Team covering 7 Counties on the border of South Texas.
