When Jesus was asked if He was the Christ, He responded using a metaphor many listeners would understand. He declares He is “the good shepherd”- a loving, protective provider and caregiver of His sheep, those who follow Him. We as “sheep” hear His voice. We are drawn to His call; we eagerly seek Him and listen for The Holy Spirit impressing God’s truth within us. Jesus KNOWS us- every detail of our past, present, and future- and He gives us eternal life! God the Father has ordained our redemption, and we rest safely and securely in the everlasting grasp of His mighty Hand.

1 Corinthians 15:56-58
56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law;57but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

One day death will come knocking on everyone’s door. Death can claim this natural body, but death can’t claim your soul if you know Jesus Christ. What we have is the fulfillment of Scripture: “Death is swallowed up in victory”- a quote from the Old Testament. One day death will be swallowed up. Jesus rendered him powerless who had the fear of death over us. Jesus snatched all the power Satan had over death- it’s no longer a feared foe! Death is a friend that ushers us into the presence of God. Sin is a reality, and sin has a sting. BUT Jesus has overcome sin! He’s provided a way that sin was atoned for, that we can have this eternal confidence in Christ.

1 Peter 1:3-5
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Our faithful Father is worthy of all praise! He forgives, heals, redeems, crowns, satisfies, and renews! Give glory to God today for His grace and every benefit that comes from being a part of His Family! May our faith be strengthened as we bless the Lord and His Holy Name.
