Power Up Packs
This page is to communicate with our community the needs and the triumphs of Power Up Packs. Power Up Packs feeds local children on the weekends.
Power Up started in November of 2013 with eight kids from one Portage Elementary School. We have grown tremendously and God has blessed our efforts every step of the way. We are currently serving over 360 students in ten Portage Public Schools. We send home kid friendly meals in backpacks on the weekends for kids who struggle to have enough to eat when they are not at school.

As another school year comes to a close, so does my final year leading Power Up.
When we started this program in 2013, I never could have imagined the impact it would have on our community or the incredible people I would meet along the way. Looking at these numbers, I'm overwhelmed by what we've accomplished together.
Every bag packed represents a child who had food for the weekend. Every volunteer hour represents someone who chose to make a difference. Every donation, every school partner, every volunteer, every student helper, and every supporter played a part in making this program successful.
To all of our volunteers—thank you. Whether you packed bags, helped with deliveries, made donations, or simply spread the word, Power Up would not exist without you. Your kindness and commitment have made a lasting impact on thousands of children and families over the past 13 years.
This year marks my final year as coordinator. While stepping away is bittersweet, I am thrilled to pass the torch to someone I know will do an amazing job. Please join me in welcoming Michaela Hanzaker as the new Power Up Coordinator. Michaela has already been working behind the scenes and brings tremendous passion, organization, and dedication to the program. I know Power Up is in excellent hands.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of this incredible journey. It has truly been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life, and I will always be grateful for the community that came together to support local children.
Here's to another successful school year—and to the next chapter for Power Up. ❤️

Power Up is looking for community groups to help with packing nights!
Each week we pack weekend food bags for local students who may not have enough food at home when school isn’t in session. It’s a simple but meaningful way to make a real impact in our community.
We’re looking for groups to help pack, such as:
• Sports teams
• Scout troops
• Youth groups
• School clubs
• Service organizations
• Families who want to volunteer together
Packing happens Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM and usually takes about 40 minutes.
A couple quick guidelines:
• Volunteers should be in 3rd grade or older
• Groups should be around 15–20 people
It’s a great opportunity for teams and groups that need service hours or want to give back together.
If your group is interested, comment or message me and I’ll share the details and sign-up link. Thank you for helping support local kids! 💙
