Big thank you to Discoid Roach Ladies for the great quality of discoid roaches for our Mushu!
They were wonderful to work with and highly recommended.
They helped us pick the right size for our girl and got our order shipped it extremely fast. Being that we're also in FL, our order arrived within 2 days, with a tracking number.

Remember Donkey?

We missed his big ears and sweet face! He too is boarding with us for a few weeks while his family travels for the summer and we're thankful they chose us to love on him just a bit longer ☺️

He's quite the mover, curious and adorable 😍

He loves his stacking cups, so throughout the day I'll stack them back up, sometimes hide a treat in there, only for him to undo them as quickly as possible, and that became our little game πŸ˜…
We'll repeat this a few times a day. Sometimes he leaves us little surprises and throws them into his water bowl so they're soaked 🫠

We love getting to see our little friends after they're adopted, we miss each and every one of them!

He's well taken care of and we're so proud of his family β€οΈπŸ€—

Good morning from Sunny, who's boarding with us for a few weeks, isn't she beautiful?! 😍

Did you know we board all sorts of critters? With the right set up, instructions from owners and our love for these animals, we help families board their precious ones whenever it's needed!

We're excited to have Sunny stay with us, she has a spunky personality, very curious and alert! Her family has taken such good care of her! πŸ‘πŸ»

Meet Aspen, originally Goldie, the English Lop.
She originally came to us to board for about 2 weeks.
We asked a few questions after having her for a few days and realized a few things were off.

Now, this post isn't to shame the family or anyone at all, it's actually to help educate families.

She lived outdoors. We believe she had some kind of hutch she slept in at night, but was normally left outdoors to graze on grass. She was given hay, but was only fed pellets every other day or so.

If you know English Lops, you know that their long ears are highly prone to issues, reason - Because their ear canals are narrow and their pinnae (ear flaps) are so large, they are highly susceptible to ear infections (otitis externa), wax buildup, mites, and trauma.

As with any boarder, we check them over, no we aren't asked to do this, we just do it, because we care.
We stated some of our concerns to the owner, like her boney structure, some ear scratching and build up, along with keeping bunnies out doors.

Sometimes, this gets us in trouble with the owners, not many like to hear that we have concerns and that they may be doing something incorrectly. We of course word this gently but we ALWAYS express the concerns, because we have an obligation to, because we genuinely care for any creature that comes our way.

When we asked how often she gets her pellets, because we like to mimic the routine the critter normally gets at home, we were told every other day or so, but to just follow the bag's recommendations..
Well.. we weighed Aspen who weighed about 11lbs at the time, meaning she needed about 6-10oz of food (per the bag, this was Purina Complete)..

Fast forward.. after the 2 weeks were up, the family decided it is best to re-home her. We expressed our concern with rehoming her to just any random person due to breeding her and keeping her in poor conditions again, they agreed and surrendered her to us.

Aspen will be visiting the vet in a few days and is scheduled to be spayed. We will further discuss diet, flea/mite medicine, ear care and everything in between.

Until then, Aspen is incredibly loved by us all here at the rescue. We're thankful to the family who intrusted us with her care and well being and are lucky to have crossed paths with such a beauty 😍

Good morning/afternoon friends, it's been a a tough few weeks so we've been off social media for a bit.

Some updates:

Tamaki, our sweetest girl gained her wings earlier this month. She truly touched our hearts and showed us another side of rescuing. Anyone can open a rescue and take in adoptable bunnies and guinea pigs, but where do the rest go? The ones that aren't adoptable? The ones that have illnesses or conditions that can't be fixed/cured? Do some rescues turn them away? Are ALL the rescues full with critters that are unadoptable?

So we've changed our mission, our purpose.
While we do have bunnies, guniea pigs and other critters available for adoption, we will only be taking in special cases, as long as space and funds allow us to do so. If you think taking care of a healthy bunny or reptile is expensive, consider the consistent vet visits and medical care a special needs critter requires.

Eventually our rescue name will change as well.

We will continue our boarding and grooming services and will be open to boarding other critters as well. We will always continue to offer advice and tips via text to families (as we have been doing).

Onto other updates:

1. Chanel who was adopted from us a few years back has returned to us. She is doing well, incredibly sweet, loves attention and is available for adoption. She must be kept in an x-pen as she enjoys walls and baseboards.

2. Goldie, who was boarding with us for about 2 weeks, has been surrendered to us. We will make a post about her soon, introduce her and her background story. She's an English Lop with beautiful long ears, she won't be available until after her spay and will only be adopted out to an experienced owner.

3. Keyo is available for adoption, this sweet boy resembles Peter Rabbit from the children's books! He has a very sweet and gentle demeanor, just like Chanel.

4. We have 2 pairs of young guniea pigs available for adoption, 1 pair of females and 1 pair of males.

5. Our sugar gliders are still in search of a home, they'll come with their cage, accessories and of course and food and snacks we have for them. Their diet is basic but we would love for them to go to an experienced home if possible. Otherwise, we're open to educating the family willing to take on the trio.

6. Blossom was recently adopted by one of our previous adopters and long time boarding families, she couldn't have picked a better family ❀️

7. Our sweet Midnight has met with a family and absolutely loved his new person, he chose his mama during the meet and greet, it was beautiful ❀️ We're still finalizing the adoption.

We're still very much hoping to find families for our piggies and adoptable bunnies. Please help us by sharing our posts, we will make individual posts about each one of our adoptable critters, they're also on PetFinder and Adopt-a-pet.com

Thank you all for the support and prayers. Your encouraging words always help us continue our missions.

Tamaki Update - We're at a loss of words at this point.. the coordination is about 90% gone, she curves her body almost completely, front legs both splay to the left of her body, her left back leg is twisted upwards and her right leg stretches out completely, unable to be held in the right position.

Her head turns to the right side of her body, weight loss is continuing, she has an incisor malocclusion but teeth aren't overgrown, luckily.. There is discharge from her left eye, some of it we can no longer clean without having to soak it up which will stress her tremendously..

She's confined to this blanket bed of hers as she cannot hold herself up. She attempts to push herself out of it, wears herself out in the process. So we take her out, changing her pad and hold her up.

Tamaki takes about 20ml of water via syringe every morning and evening, sometimes a bit less. Pellets are offered but she has started to decline them. Greens are offered and she has a hard time chewing. We offer a freeze dried banana treat (which she LOVES), some days she'll accept others she won't bother..
She also gets antimicrobial opthalmic gel in both eyes morning and night along with pain meds daily.

But through it all, she always finds the time to lick my hand..

Unfortunately, as our hearts are breaking, she's not ok, she's not thriving, she's merely existing.. We have to make the hardest decision in rescue/sanctuary care and that's to help her cross the rainbow bridge.. this will occur Monday, unless she passes naturally.

Keep our sweet girl in your prayers, we don't have much longer with her πŸ’”

A huge thank you to our amazing supporters! πŸ’œ

Today we received a donation of apple sticks for our rescue animals. These make wonderful enrichment items for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and other small animals who love to chew and explore.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us provide enrichment, comfort, and quality care to the animals in our sanctuary.

Thank you for helping us make a difference, one happy nibble at a time. 🐰🌿

Our crested geckos, Derpy and Banana, are up for adoption.
We put together a new terrarium for them, everything will be included in the adoption fee.

Both tanks are the same size, 18x18x24.

Geckos are NOT to be kept together in one home, they're to remain separate.

Please message us if interested!

Derpy is an adult, Bananas is a juvenile.
