Some of the most recognizable names in the fire service hobby, publishing world, and fire safety education will be joining us at Rigs & Relics on June 27–28 in Coldwater, Michigan.

⭐ Stan Safety the Magical Fireman will be joining us with Maddie the Firetruck, teaching important fire safety skills and giving kids the chance to experience fire prevention in a fun and memorable way.

⭐ Quinn, The Little Firefighter, will be on hand meeting fans, exploring the rigs, and helping inspire the next generation of firefighters.

⭐ Meet Brent Denure, President of Vintage Media Inc., and Jeff Silver, President of Awesome Diecast. Through their dedication, they help preserve transportation history while keeping collectors and enthusiasts connected to today's trends and innovations.

⭐ Meet Kent Parrish and Chris Allen, Managing Editors of Fire Apparatus Journal and Vintage Fire Truck & Equipment Magazine. Their work helps document, preserve, and share the stories of the apparatus, departments, and people that shaped the fire service.

Twenty-six years after its last appearance in print, Fire Apparatus Journal is proud to bring "Behind the Fence" back to its pages.

"Before it was destroyed in the CZU Lightning Complex Fire in 2020, this 2009 International/Pierce 1800-gallon dry-side tender with 1000 GPM pump served Lockheed-Martin Missile Systems. It was originally delivered to the Waterton Canyon, Colorado facility before being transferred to Santa Cruz, California in 2017."

"The Department of Energy operates this 2000 Ferrara Inferno 1500 GPM rescue-pumper with 1000-gallon water tank as Squad 66 at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory in Plainsboro, New Jersey. It originally served at DOE's Rocky Flats Site near Golden, Colorado."

As creator Leo E. Duliba once wrote, "Behind the Fence" focused on a "segment of apparatus that is rarely seen by us" and featured some of the "most difficult to find and least photographed fire apparatus."

2026 July/August Issue Coming Soon...

In this installment of Fire Apparatus Journal’s limited series, Island Hopping, we highlight the volcanic “The Big Island” of Hawaii.

"The Island of Hawaii, known as “The Big Island,” to set it apart from the State of Hawaii, is a natural wonder shaped by fire, sea, and time.

Founded in 1888, the Hawaii Fire Department protects the entire island. It operates the only fire based EMS system and volunteer division in the state. The department employs 382 uniformed members, complimented by a force of 120 volunteer firefighters."
