If I can teach my kids one thing, I hope I teach them resilience. Life happens. So many things that are beyond our control. But we can control how we react, how we respond and how we continue on.
In Chinese medicine, we believe we should experience all of the emotions- sadness/grief, joy, anger, fear and thought/worry. However, when these emotions are prolonged or excessive, they can cause disease. Many people find acupuncture helps them with the emotional stability to find their resilience.

Lyme PSA
Lyme disease can show up in kids very differently than adults. They can show signs of the flu- fever, irritability, and fatigue. They can get a more generic rash or maybe just act whiny.
Our herbal bug spray can help with ticks. But you don’t need to be out in the woods to get ticks. Make sure you’re checking kids (and yourself) regularly if you spend a lot of time outside.
If you’ve found a tick and you or your child develops a fever- get it checked out.
Brody had several ticks a few years ago. He had a fever and wasn’t acting like himself when I found the bullseye rash. We used antibiotics and Chinese herbal medicine in combination. A friend’s child had an uncontrollable fever and a weird purple lesion that turned out to be Lyme.
I see enough chronic Lyme that probably could have been prevented with early intervention. Also, ticks carry a variety of disease besides Lyme.
Every year I find ticks on patients. Don’t panic but stay aware. Keep some herbal bug spray on hand. If something feels off, get it checked out.
