On July 4, Americans across the nation will celebrate Independence Day, but it was on Aug. 2, 1776, that America’s grasp at self-sovereignty was fully empowered by the Founding Fathers. On that day, 56 delegates of the Continental Congress performed an act of treason and signed their names to the Declaration of Independence. Many of them – and their families – would lose much. A two-day event honoring the courageous acts of Aug. 2, 1776, will take place on Put-in-Bay on Aug. 1 and 2. Learn more at the link in the comments.
