All the angles of yesterday's tattoo post.

Photos from Red Region Tattoos's post 06/19/2026

It's always good when people come around and I see their aged tattoos. Posting freshies isn't as cool because that isn't what the darn things really look like. This one is a wrap, but didn't want to post seven pics at once, so I'll post it as a mini reel/vid later when I get the time to make it. A funny thing with this tattoo... the client supplied much of the art and I just messed with it to make it all blend because it was a hodgepodge of different styles from various sources. We'd already done the demon face before either of us realized it was most likely Mazikeen.

I don't know who this is. It's an anime guy. The person who got it also got another one, but a girl character later in the evening after a many hour break. Then they got another one, also a female character the next day. The why of all that strange timing is another story, but anyway, I didn't know who a single character was. She (client) had them all done with just black, black and grey, but the reference images were in color. So... I turned color to black and grey. That is why I decided to hit the photo with a black and grey filter. It is what I did for each reference, and I wanted to stay on the groove, plus, since the tattoos had no color it made sense. Grey / Gray... hmm, I suppose I should have went with the a rather than the e. In America it is usually with and A. My problem is that many of the artists I follow are European, and a majority of the paintings I sell go to Europe as well, so I'm seeing grey as often as gray, if not more. There is no right and wrong to it. Both spelling are used in Europe and in America. I just think one is more popular in one place, and the other in the other. Oh well, it doesn't matter much.
So, this anime guy tattoo. Not a clue who it is.

Aged/healed mermaid on a moon swing tattoo.
The client was nice enough to stop in to show me her healed piece when she was in the area.
A tattoo isn't done till it is healed out a while in my mind.

I recall when I was doing this that in my head I was singing a song.
Swinging on a Star by Bing Crosby.
When I think of that song I always end up thinking of the 90s movie Hudson Hawk.
Super serious movie staring Bruce Willis and Andie MacDowell.

Here is the lyrics...

Would you like to swing on a star?
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a mule?
A mule is an animal with long funny ears
Kicks up at anything he hears
His back is brawny but his brain is weak
He's just plain stupid with a stubborn streak
And by the way, if you hate to go to school
You may grow up to be a mule
Or would you like to swing on a star?
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a pig?
A pig is an animal with dirt on his face
His shoes are a terrible disgrace
He has no manners when he eats his food
He's fat and lazy and extremely rude
But if you don't care a feather or a fig
You may grow up to be a pig
Or would you like to swing on a star?
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a fish?
A fish won't do anything, but swim in a brook
He can't write his name or read a book
To fool the people is his only thought
Ha, and though he's slippery, he still gets caught
But then if that sort of life is what you wish
You might grow up to be a fish
New kind of jumped-up slippery fish
And all the monkeys aren't in the zoo
Every day you meet quite a few
So, you see it's all up to you
You can be better than you are
You could be swingin' on a star.

One of the cute and tiny lamb tattoos from my April lambs deal which was inspired by Easter. This one was directly off the sheet I drew. I ended up doing about a dozen of them was all, each different except two gals got matching ones, which I thought was cool.

I had never heard the word sonder before. It's a coined word from John Koenig's dictionary of obscure sorrows. It was coined in 2012. It has already been added to many official dictionaries. I rather like it, so hope it stands the test of time.
Sonder is a noun referring to the profound realization that every random passerby is the main character of their own story, living a life as vivid and complex as your own.
We walk around, all of our own main characters, others just side characters, some just background... but we are just that to them.

For the record, I don't like peas. Never have. With that said... peas. I've tattooed peas on people only a few times. Considering that I've been tattooing for four decades now, that's a pretty uncommon tattoo. Peas are actually a fruit. Fruit is not uncommon in tattooing. Vegetables aren't so common. Peas are thought of as vegetables. There ya go, that's why it's not a common request I suppose.
These designs are not of my making. I didn't draw them, they are client supplied. They were internet finds.
I'd have drawn the peas differently, probably over exaggerated a few things in a way that wasn't easily noticeable.
The client got five small tattoos at once for her first tattoos. Four show here.
Her wife left midway through for a coffee run and came back with a cute Snow White and D***y figurine thing for me.
Unlike peas, I'm very fond of Snow White. I don't have a favorite dwarf, if you're wondering about that. You probably weren't.
Obviously from the redness the tattoos shown are fresh. Like a couple minutes old type fresh.
I'm guessing she'll come back for something else eventually. Maybe I'll try to duplicate the mini vid when it's aged out so I can have an excuse to mention that I don't like peas, and am fond of Snow White again.
That's about it.
Anyways... peas.
