So, y’all know how God is always using us to bless others right?? Well this time…WE’RE GOING TO AFRICA!! 🌍🇳🇦✈️
7 years ago, Derrika Hunt and I partnered to plan a trip to take 5 girls from Pompano to Trinidad for 5 days, along with 3 other mentors! We helped the girls receive their passports, we held parent meetings, we lived in the dorms at the University of the West Indies where we had a personal chef each morning, we had a personal driver, we completed a service project at a women’s shelter, explored the city, ate the cultural foods, swam in the beach, and more!
Since then, she founded her nonprofit, Passports 4 Change and they have taken groups of girls from Oakland, California to South Africa, Phoenix, Arizona, and we were planning a trip to Egypt in 2020 before the COVID lockdown started.
A few weeks ago, Derrika called me to say that she’s received another grant and she wants to take some kids from Pompano to Namibia, Africa!
She said, “Jazz, the trip is already planned! I’m so excited! And the flights are already covered. We just need to find the kids and fundraise to cover the rest.” 😆
I’m so excited!! Stay tuned for the applications and fundraisers coming soon! We need your support. And THANK YOU to everyone who supported or donated in the past. We appreciate you. 💚
P.S. This time around, we’re focusing on providing our young men with this opportunity!

Black and Brown Girls Graduating’ is an offering to imagine alongside Black and Brown girls about futures and dreams post-high school graduation. We will specifically be exploring the pathway of college and offering hands-on support for applying. The college application process can be so daunting and discouraging for many reasons. We offer support and guidance because we believe Black and Brown girls deserve a fair chance at college too.
🌸
In this workshop series all attendees will have the chance to meet with and learn alongside Black and Brown women who have navigated the complex college application process. Please register at the link and share!!
🌸
We are over the moon excited to offer this kind of hands-on, logistic program to support our youth. They deserve the best and we support them in figuring out what that looks like for them.
🌸
This is power-building, this is movement work, this is future making ✨
