Dear Pk-3 Families:

It’s hard to believe we are in the month of April!

We are learning all about The Life Cycle of the Butterfly. Watching the life cycle of the butterfly is amazing, even more so for preschoolers. We ordered little caterpillars and they arrived last Thursday. The children’s task is to place the little caterpillars in a butterfly house and take care of them every day. We will watch them eat, grow and shed their skins. In a couple of weeks, the caterpillars will pupate, which means that they will form a chrysalis and sleep. We will have to wait a little bit longer to watch them emerge from their chrysalis as butterflies! These lovely butterflies will continue their life’s journey as we release them in our play yard.

Every week we will be working on a special project about it. We will decorate our classroom bulletin board and at the end of the month we will send the projects home. Our bulletin board is really starting to look fantastic!

Our Bible verse for this month is “Even a child is known by their acts.” Proverbs 20:11. To make this verse easier for the kids to understand we are learning the Fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
The moral character we are working on is responsibility. We will be learning the importance of being responsible for others as well as self-responsibility. This week we did focus our bible lesson on reviewing the Easter Story. We learned about the Miracles of Jesus and the meaning of Easter.

Our Zoo phonics friends for this month are Dd-Deedee Deer and Bb-Bubba Bear. We will review all the letters we learned so far. We will continue working on pre-writing activities such as tracing their own last name. Some of our friends already can write their own names.
We are working on the numbers 15 & 20 and we are counting 1-30 with our calendar.

Please don't hesitate to call or e-mail with any questions or concerns.

Blessings,

PK-3 Teachers

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MS. ALEXIS!

03/07/2018

Dear PK3 Families,

It is March and we started the month by reading the book "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr. Seuss. Children made their own Cat in the Hat mask for the parade. Our classroom bulletin board looks amazing with the masks and a colorful birthday cake decorated by the children to celebrate his birthday. We will send them home in a couple of weeks.

We will be learning about "My Five Senses" with Dr. Seuss. We will explore, discover, and learn through play by using our five senses. We will talk about how our senses work together to help us learn about the world around us.

We will read books about each of our five senses and do fun activities to understand the specific job of each sense.
Here are some activities we have planned:- Painting blindfolded - Painting while listening to classical music- Smelling and guessing different scents. Match "Smell jars" (small containers with perforated lids filled with scented food-grade extracts)- Outdoor activities: Make "World Watcher" binoculars; wind watching; take a listening walk where we will describe the sounds we hear around us- Music and movement: Dance with scarves to music inspired by the wind- Experimenting with sounds by using shaking jars to match similar sounds- Tasting and guessing different flavors (sweet, sour, salty)- Touching and guessing different shapes and textures- Shaving cream swirl art and much more...

Our Bible verse for this month is "Let the children come to me and do not stop them." Matthew 19:14. The last two weeks of March we will focus our Bible lesson on Easter. We will learn about The Miracles of Jesus and the meaning of Easter. We are already practicing our special song for Easter. We will perform at church on Palm Sunday and we hope you will join us. Ask your child the name of the song and to sing the song to you.
The moral character we are working on this month is "Cooperation."
We will learn the importance of helping each other and doing things together.

We will meet our new friends L (Lizzy lizard) and N (Nigel night owl).
We will work on the numbers 11 and 13. Counting 1-30 (using our classroom calendar)

We are very excited about the activities we have planned!

As always, thank you for sharing your child with us. It is a privilege and a blessing to love, care and teach to your child.
Please don't hesitate to call or e-mail with any questions or concerns.

Blessings,

PK-3 Teachers

Happy New Year to all our wonderful families!

We would like to thank you for your thoughtful and generous Christmas gifts. December was filled with lots of fun and our Christmas Pageant was amazing! We hope you enjoyed as much as we enjoyed practicing and getting ready for our performance.

We have a very busy month ahead. January will bring lots of excitement! We began our month by reading the book “The Emperor's Egg" by Martin Jenkins, and we made a penguin project using our shoe-print to decorate our class bulletin board.
We are learning about winter, penguins, bears and more. We are working on the numbers 8 and 10. We met our new friends for letters H (Honey horse) W (Willie Weasel) as well as reviewing the letter G (Gordo Gorilla). Since we are talking and learning about bears and hibernation, we will have a school-wide hibernation party on January 26th. Everybody wears their pajamas to school so we can hibernate like the bears!

Our Bible verse for this month is “Jesus grew and became strong”…Luke 2:40
We will reinforce our moral characters: Good Manners, Respect, Generosity and Thankfulness.

We continue to emphasize the importance of being thankful and generous. Please make sure you send the chapel envelope on Fridays - even if you just place coins in the envelope. Children really enjoy being part of the collection at chapel time. They love to have their envelopes read and how we acknowledge their good deeds. If you need more envelopes just let us know. If you have any questions, email us anytime and allow 1 business day response time.

We will start our prewriting activities by tracing our names every morning by signing in as soon as we arrive to our classroom. We also will start developing our cutting skills with scissors. Once children master tracing their names we will start free writing first and last names. We are just a few months away from entering Pk-4 and will be fully prepared for our next chapter in school!

A warm welcome to Ms. Kassie joining our PK-3 Team! We are so happy to have you with us Ms. Kassie. We also want to welcome our new friends, Landon, Avery, Moriah, and Olivia!

Please call or email if you have any questions!
Blessings to you!

Dear PK-3 Families
Thank you for all your love and support during our busy month. We were so excited to debut our Christmas pageant to all of our loved ones. Our songs told the story of the birth of Jesus and celebrated the unity during the holidays. We sang the songs every day all day long together during snack time, playground time and any chance we got. It was so exciting to finally perform them for all to see!
We celebrated in so many ways in our classroom during the month and we wish you more happy celebrations during the break!

Thank you for all the kind and thoughtful gifts. We really appreciate your generosity.
It is a blessing to have such supportive families in our classrooms.
From all the PK-3 teachers we hope you had a blessed and Merry Christmas and we wish you a Happy New Year!

Looking forward to our new year in 2018 Ms. Alexis' class is welcoming new friends to the classroom and is encouraging all of her students to explore the option of the five day a week program that further prepares and immerses children in their school environment.
