Right now, there is currently not a vaccine available to prevent COVID-19 or shorten its duration if you become sick. However, with influenza season right around the corner there are vaccines available that can help prevent transmission and shorten the severity of illness.
Signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and seasonal influenza may include fever or feeling feverish, chills, cough, tiredness, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body or muscle aches, or headache. Gastrointestinal symptoms can also manifest with COVID-19, as well as loss of taste or smell.
Continued use of face coverings in public and while at work plus social distancing, surface cleaning and disinfection, good hygiene including frequent handwashing, and isolating when experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness can help to break the chain of transmission for both of these illnesses!

All students that come to our department for externship are special to me.
These ladies here are extra special, as I had the honor of being their instructor along with my co-professor Casey at Skyline college.
Now I have the honor of training them in my department as their primary preceptor and continue where we left in class.
It’s such an amazing feeling to be able to have a major role in their development and ultimately their career.
Say hi to the future stars of sterile processing!!

Lisa Everett wants to acknowledge Angela Fisher, a traveling tech working at UCSF, as a “Sterile Processing Superstar” Angela has been giving masks to coworkers during the PPE shortage. A special thanks goes out to Angela’s Mom in New Jersey. When She heard about the mask shortage she started sewing. Angela has given out dozens of these beautiful handcrafted masks as part of the SPD family. We are family🤓😷
Do you work with someone you feel should be acknowledged as a “Sterile Processing Superstar”?
Send us a message and a photo and we’ll post their story.
