We are receiving reports of Vishing attacks in Pocatello right now, where someone from the “Pakatello” Idaho police department is asking for donations for the annual calendar.

We’ve never heard someone pronounce it like Pakatello…ever. This individual did not try to impersonate a police officer or anyone on staff, nor did he state his name, but was asking for donations.

A vishing attack is where someone uses social engineering attacks to try and obtain data from a person.

Explosions in Lebanon hit communications devices after a previous pager attack injured thousands. https://link.ie.social/yPSlKp

Not that we called it, but we did.

Look at our previous post about the explosions. Lithium batteries, even lead-acid batteries, don’t explode the way that was shown in videos of the attacks by “overheating”.

Also, it is extremely difficult to “hack” a pager or two way radio to cause the battery to “explode”. We ruled out from the beginning, with little news about the attacks, that it was a cyberattack that specifically targeted the batteries overheat. They would become very hot and melt, but not explode the way the videos presented.

We stand by our statement that we believed it was a supply chain attack where an explosive device was placed inside of the pagers, linked with a trigger that could be activated remotely, and distributed/sold to the masses.

We are saddened by the injuries and loss of life to this attack. This type of attack cannot be specifically targeted because who is in possession of the devices, cannot be controlled.

Walkie-talkies reportedly exploded in Lebanon in an apparent attack targeting Hezbollah members Wednesday, a day after exploding pagers killed at least 12 people and injured thousands. 09/18/2024

We would ask, what is the correlation between the pagers and the two way radios? Who makes the both devices? Are there correlating vendors?

To make a battery explode like that would suggest a supply chain attack or firmware attack.
