South Heidelberg Township taking care of their roads, and their citizens!
Citizens,
The Township Public Works team completed various road and infrastructure repairs on Laurel Ridge Road. The work involved repairs to a bridge as well as milling and base repair to areas of deteriorated roadway using the Asphalt Zipper machine.
This work is being completed in advance of further bidded road work that will be done this summer on Laurel Ridge Road as part of the 2026 Township Road Projects. The roadway is now open and the Township thanks citizens and motorists for your patience while the work was being completed. PA State Association of Township Supervisors
“We just did in 30 minutes with the Asphalt Zipper what would have taken us 3 days with our skid steer milling head!” 🚧✅ City of Cedar Rapids Iowa Government purchased our 6-foot machine shortly after this demo 👏
That is the impact of bringing full-depth reclamation and utility trenching in-house with Asphalt Zipper—faster road repair, less traffic disruption, and greater crew efficiency.
⚙️ How much time could your team save by reclaiming, milling, and backfilling at this speed?

If your crew already has trucks, rollers, and paving equipment, the missing piece may be the ability to repair the underlying road base.
In-house road reclamation allows teams to
✅Stabilize the base layer
✅Reduce repeat repairs
✅Gain more control over scheduling
✅Extend pavement life with the crew and equipment they already have

Road Repair Equipment for the Crew that Has it All | Government Quick Summary Intro Many road crews already own the trucks, rollers, and paving equipment needed for in-house repairs. What they often lack is the ability to repair the failed road base beneath the asphalt. Without asphalt grinding, milling, or reclamation capability, pothole repairs become a costly...
New thinking for crews already running CTLs (track skid steers) 👀
The real shift is not just a new attachment. It's serious utility trenching and road reclamation capabilities for CTLS, with up to 10-inch cutting depth and a lower-profile design built for visibility and control.
This changes how smaller crews can approach trenching, milling, and full-depth repair. 🚧

Why Do Pot Holes Keep Coming Back? | Government The Real Cost of Repeat Potholes Potholes cost road crews time, money, and public trust. Crews fill the same holes again and again, only to watch them reopen after the next storm, freeze-thaw cycle, or busy traffic week. That pattern affects asphalt, chip seal, and gravel roads alike. Utility trenching through asphalt can either kill your schedule—or supercharge your crew.
Most estimators compare three options:
1️⃣ Rent trenchers + hire a saw-cutting crew
2️⃣ Sub out the whole asphalt trench job
3️⃣ Use an asphalt milling/grinding attachment to open the trench in one pass
On many jobs, grinding can mean:
⚡ 400+ feet of trench in about 30 minutes
♻️ Reusable asphalt millings for backfill
📅 Less dependence on subcontractor schedules
Curious which option actually protects your margins?
