Yesterday the FBI released an advisory on the Silent Ransom Group (SRG), aka Luna Moth, Chatty Spider, and UNC3753, who use social engineering techniques like phone calls and phishing emails to access victim computers. SRG actors have been steadily targeting law firms since 2023, and they focus on accessing victim systems, exfiltrating data, and extorting their victims by threatening to release or sell the stolen data.

This is both good and bad news. While the people that were affected by the breach may not have their stuff leaked on the internet (if you trust the criminals) it will also encourage other hackers now to do the same. It just shows that crime does pay.

The outage today for computers is caused by companies using an MDR software called Crowd Strike. Ironically this software is there for security but for some reason this update was released with this major bug in it taking down companies all around the world.
