Rocky Acres Ranch

There has been a lot of activity here at the ranch the last few days. Kids have been handling the chicks a ton, which is great. Hopefully they continue to be friendly and social with us!
Nikki and Corduroy (the mini donkeys) got some extra attention, which they loved. The kids brushed them and they thought it was very interesting to see the chicks being gently pushed around on the little green roller-coaster car. I love how curious they are and seeing the look on their faces when they see or learn something new.

The cattle were turned out in another pasture and are happier than ever to eat endless amounts of grass. I'll take some videos of them soon.

Update on our chicks who are now "teenagers". I know we have at least 1 rooster. It's so hard to tell still, but I'm going to guess 2 are roosters. They are super cute and being handled a ton by kids! Praying for a friendly rooster this time 🐓!!

The girls wanted to help me with a project. We were gathering scrap wood to make a gate for the garden. Corduroy did not want anything to do with it, clearly. Perhaps his afternoon nap was interrupted. Him and Jett ended up hanging out having some guy time while the girls helped me. 😂

Anyone that has ever tried to shed out a mini horse knows the how real the struggle is. 🥵😩

And then, my donkeys try to eat his hair like it's a delicacy. 🫠

We let the chicks outside in the coop today. They were excited to explore and got to meet their mothers! The mother hens pecked at them then they just left 😂.

It was really cute. The boys loved it, too.

At night they will be in their safe enclosure with heat if they need it. It's the perfect week to get them outside in the beautiful weather.
