SUNY Plattsburgh's Army ROTC - 94 years strong! We impose self-confidence and expect Cadets and students to exceed the standard.

SUNY Plattsburgh cadets Sayward, Martin, and Moore pose at the 86th New York Infantry Regiment memorial at Gettysburg National Park in Pennsylvania as part of the Green Mountain Battalions annual Staff Ride. The 86th New York was mustered in 1861 under the command of Col. Benajah P. Bailey in Elmira, NY. Known as "Steuben Rangers", the 86th New York held key blocking positions during the Battle of Gettysburg which contributed to a victory by the Union Army known as the Army of the Potomac.

This morning our cadets helped the Plattsburgh community salute World War II and Korean War Veterans as they departed for Washington D.C. While at the nations capital, these heroes will take a tour of the National Mall and get a chance to view the memorials that were constructed in their honor. These are special men and women and we were happy to honor them on such a great day!

Here are some pictures from the Battle of Plattsburgh Parade today. This is a great community event that occurs every year in which we remember the battle that took place 201 years ago in 1814 during the war of 1812. A big thank you to our host school, the University of Vermont Army ROTC program for helping supply a color guard for this great event!

This morning our cadets were up early to continue the tradition of remembering and honoring those who lost their lives 14 years ago today on September 11, 2001. Each cadet climbed 110 flights of stairs to match the number of flights in the World Trade Center. We were fortunate enough to be joined by our Senior Military Instructor MSG Levy from our host school at the University of Vermont. Never forget.
