The Apostle Paul writes that God sent His Son in the fulness of time. What were the events that fulfilled time and where does the story of Christmas actually start? When you look back on the year 2020, would you be able to say that it was one in which you gave thanks? That might seem a preposterous idea, given the disastrous circumstances we have found ourselves in, but it is worth our consideration as Christians nearing the Thanksgiving holiday. Is God worthy of our thanks in the midst of immense suffering?
In our culture, we are always looking for the expert to give us the facts. This is never more evident than in the current coronavirus crisis. We want experts to tell us if it is safe to go outside, should I wear a mask, how close is too close, and when will it end? With all due respect to doctors and scientists working hard to understand and combat the virus, the truth is, nobody knows. There is no expert to call on who can definitively answer all these questions. Or is there?
The Sovereign God who created and sustains all things through the power of His Son has the answers. He has given them to us in His timeless Word of Truth for us to understand and live by. The Church under Trial is a Bible study that turns to the Ultimate Expert for answers by studying pain and suffering throughout the Bible. Join us as we discover God’s purpose for the trials we face.
