It's the time of year in North Texas when we support our local organizations that help make our community a better place. If you are in a position to give, I ask you to please support the National Autism Association of North Texas. Being on the board for NAA-NT has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Providing families with direct grants that could help change the life of a child with Autism is invaluable. I can not imagine where we would be if Belle had not been able to access the help she needs to grow and develop daily. Every dollar counts, and we appreciate everyone who contributes to our cause. My sweet Belle's first day of 2nd grade. I am so proud of all she has accomplished. She didn't want me to walk her inside, or even cross the crosswalk with her! She is so bright, so independent, and I know she will do great. To all my fellow Autism moms out there, know you are not alone. We all feel mixed emotions. Sadness, worry, relief, pride, and anticipation. We will all be watching the clock, praying our children will be able to focus and control their emotions, praying they will make friends and that others will be kind and inclusive. You got this, mamas! You are a warrior! 💪💙

You learn something new every day! I have never heard of this, but it makes perfect sense. My daughter wants to try foods, but the smell or texture often gets in the way. What foods do your kiddos avoid? Share in the comments!

I am excited to announce The Parenting Spectrum is launching the Summer Sparks Social Skills Group! This is a group for children ages 5-9 years old. Children do not need to have a diagnosis to attend. A social skills group works best when a variety of children bring unique personalities to the group. I have many fun activities planned, and I can't wait to meet your kiddos. Spots are limited! Sessions will be at my home in Central Plano.
