As educators, we teach our students to learn lessons and find value from every experience. The ones we enjoy and the ones we may want to run away from. Thanks to and .narvaez for this amazing lesson! 👏🏻👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿

On Saturday January 18, 2020, the young ladies of RARE Academy: Plainfield High School, in partnership with Plainfield Public School’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers, took the streets of Washington, D.C along with millions of women to take a stand against sexism, gender biases and oppression of minority groups. Our teens researched and educated their peers on gender equality in education, work and sports, domestic violence, reproductive rights, sexual harassment in the workplace, teen pregnancy, sexism and gender bias.
To close out our empowerment weekend, students engaged in a private tour at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Our tour guide, a Plainfield native, highlighted remarkable female artists from New Jersey. Our students learned about the stylistic features and inspiration behind each work. Grateful to the millions of women who daily fight around the world to end sexism, gender biases and discrimination against minority groups.
