There are a lot of ways to prepare for your wedding day.
Meditation.
Deep breathing.
Reviewing vows.
Or…jumping into a lake with your groomsmen while wearing a leopard print speedo.
Courtney & Saxon’s wedding day at Indian Trail Club felt like the definition of summer in New Jersey. Hot sun, cold drinks, their dog making a special appearance, and a dance floor that absolutely never stood a chance once Saxon started breaking out his moves.
Also: any wedding where the groom willingly commits to leopard print before noon is usually going to be a good time.

There’s something a little unfair about in late fall.
You expect November to be gray and sleepy. Instead, the lake decided to look like someone turned the saturation slider all the way up. The water was somehow turquoise. In New Jersey. In November. Make it make sense.
Emily & Frank leaned all the way into it too. Outdoor ceremony. First look on the dock. Full commitment to being outside even with the late fall chill creeping in. We photograph at Rock Island a lot, so we challenged ourselves to see the place differently this time around. Different angles. Different vantage points. No drone tricks needed when the light and scenery are already showing off.
And once the reception started? Absolute chaos in the best way possible. Hand waving. Finger pointing to the sky. A dance floor packed from the jump. The kind of wedding where you can immediately tell nobody was pacing themselves for later.
Rock Island really showed off for this one. But honestly, so did these two!

Michelle & Will’s wedding at started with an elite breakfast spread and somehow only escalated from there.
There were emotional first looks with parents. Emotional first looks with each other. Private vows. Rainy weather that still gave us enough breaks to sneak outside for portraits. And a dance floor that absolutely refused to lose momentum.
By the end of the night, the entire dance floor somehow knew the choreography to HOT TO GO. Every single person. Full commitment. Meanwhile I was in the corner trying to figure out if the letters were supposed to spell something or if everyone collectively agreed to gaslight me.
Add in a camper photo booth from Metro Photobooth, a sparkler exit that required multiple takes, and enough finger-pointing-to-the-sky dance moves to qualify as a group upper-body workout.
This one was fun. Full blog post in highlights.

There are wedding venues where guests politely say:
“Wow, this is beautiful.”
And then there’s , where people suddenly forget basic social etiquette the second cocktail hour starts because somebody walked out holding a tray of criminally delicious arepas paired with several jars of strawberry agua fresca.
We’ve photographed a lot of weddings at Perona over the years, and one thing consistently stands out:
People here are having a REALLY good time.
Part of it is obviously the food. Which honestly deserves its own seating chart at this point. But it’s also the service, pacing, hospitality, and the way the entire property somehow manages to feel polished without feeling overly stiff or formal.
So we finally put together a full Perona Farms wedding guide for couples currently planning there.
Inside the guide:
* our favorite photo locations throughout the property
* what weddings here actually feel like from start to finish
* timeline thoughts
* ceremony and sunset timing
* rain plan realities
* cocktail hour flow
* guest experience observations
* and a lot of real weddings from start to finish.
We also included some things couples usually don’t think about until midway through wedding planning. Which is around the same time people begin saying phrases like:
“Wait…we have to feed HOW many vendors?”
Guide is linked in bio. We’ll also be sharing a bunch of full Perona weddings soon too.
