Light Pollution!!!

This is near and dear to my heart!!

Since 2011 the sky has brightened by 10% each year.....we are losing the ability to see stars!!!
Put another way...in the course of your child's life they will see 60% less stars than were once in the sky!!

Animals and plants depend on the rhythms of day and night to function. Birds use the stars to establish north and south orientation. Nocturnal mammals hunt at night under the cover of darkness. Plants adjust there growth with the seasons, responding in part to changes in patterns.
Everything matters!!! We need to protect our planet for our children!!

Im asking....please turn off your outside lights at night!!
If you must have them,
use dark -sky night approved lighting! Dim your lights. Use timers or motion sensors or warmer-colored lights . We can make an impact!!

Pass it on!!

Practical Life is to assist in the development of the child. The materials are self-educating, hands-on, child sized and set up for freedom of movement. They teach a child a beginning a middle and an end. The materials should call to a child and awaken their interest.

The children have been enjoying this food prep job of peeling an egg.
They can slice it or eat it whole.
Everything is available to them on the shelf. They just need to gather the items. After they are done they can clean all the materials in our dish washing station.

This could also be set up at home.
This builds confidence, attention span, and independence!!
