New Beginnings

A New Beginning. ✝️
Nine months ago, Eric came to New Beginnings facing a possible 10-year prison sentence.

Sitting alone in a jail cell one night, he prayed and began writing a letter to the judge. When his attorney saw it, he didn't think the request would be granted. But God had other plans.

Instead of spending the next decade behind bars, Eric was given the opportunity to enter New Beginnings and commit himself to a new way of life. Through faith, accountability, hard work, and moral rehabilitation, he chose a different path.

When asked what New Beginnings meant to him, Eric shared something powerful:
"This is the first time since second grade that I've been completely clean from everything… alcohol, w**d, all of it. It's the first time I've had real stability."

He'll also tell you it wasn't easy.
"The program is rigid, but I needed it."

Now 54 years old, Eric says he's done going around the same mountain. "I don't have it in me to do it again."

Today, he has a job at Grocery Outlet, a strong support system, mentors he can lean on, and a growing relationship with God. He still plans to stop by every Thursday for prayer because, as Eric says, "Prayer is powerful. God will speak, and He listens."

Today we're honored to help him take another step forward by gifting him a vehicle to get to work, stay connected to his support system, and continue building the life he's fought so hard for.
