First run of the season in my happy place. Pink sunrise over Lake Arthur was icing on the cake.

Training for a Spartan race with random things I found in Frick Park. Also hit the monkey bars a few times in Blue Slide Park. 💪🏼 🏃🏽‍♀️

My long runs are looking quite different these days as I prepare for my first ever Spartan race next month. This morning’s 13 mile trail run had two goals:

1. Do 8 burpees every mile
2. Run through every body of water (puddle or creek) encountered to get as wet and muddy as possible

Mission accomplished. My only regret is that the toy horse I found on trail was too small for me to ride. 🐴

Training for a Spartan race while vacationing in South Florida means a long run before sunrise with burpees every mile and a mother in law who says “you did WHAT!?” when you return.

He isn’t taking the studying as seriously as I am. Enjoying a new mental challenge lately as I prepare for ones of the hardest fitness industry exams (CSCS, which has a 40% pass rate!).

I’m still reliving the snowy start and finish to one of my best ever races. Going to be riding high on this one for a little bit. First out of 103 female masters (40+ years old) feels awesome.

Chased second place for almost 5 miles.
Waited. Stayed patient.
Then attacked on the final ¾ mile, an 8% uphill the whole way.

Passed her in the last minute to take 2nd overall female and 1st in my age group. Top 6% of 348 runners.

A few years ago, I never would’ve believed I’d be running these kinds of paces. Turns out consistency and hard training has a way of changing the math.

Strong legs. Calm head. Mandatory pancakes.

Nothing like a solo turkey trot in the snow. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
