The Daily Feedback:

The Experience Music Project opened in Seattle today in 2000 with permanent exhibitions on Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana. A few great artists performed for the opening ceremonies and the museum houses a number of personal items from Jimi, Kurt, and more. In recent years, the museum's scope broadened becoming the Museum of Pop Culture.

Today, let's summon the original spirit of the Experience Music Project and share some great artists from the Seattle area.

The Daily Feedback:

The Verve released their big hit song "Bittersweet Symphony" today in 1997. While it was almost instantly a hit, the song's success ended up being kind of... bittersweet.

The song is built around a 6 second sample of an orchestral version of a Rolling Stones song. They cleared the sample with the orginal label, but didn't clear the publishing, so Mick and Keith from the Stones got credit as songwriters along with a big chunk of the royalties.

Today, let's share some other songs featuring symphonic elements.

The Daily Feedback:

Santana has been a staple on the radio since their debut in 1969, and every one of their albums have charted at least a little bit. However, in the late 1990s, after almost a decade without an album, the beloved band needed a bit of a boost.

Carlos Santana met with his label head Clive Davis who advised that they may need some younger voices to attract a new audience, so for "Supernatural," nearly every song featured a guest singer and the results were nearly inescapable.

"Supernatural" came out today in 1999, so let's share some other songs that feature guest singers or players.
