HF Engineer Direct Hire Position with a company located in the RIDC Park off of Rt 28 near Blawnox

Minimum requirements 5 + years of relevant work experience in the area of business software UI design • Expertise in modern UX design tools, including but not limited to Omnigraffle, Sketch, Axure, etc • Highly capable in core design abilities, including composition, typography, and color theory • Expertise with prototyping tools such as Balsamiq Mockups, InVision or equivalent • Deep understanding of UX design principles and methodologies as they relate to software development • Basic proficiency with Web standard technologies (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) • Knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of Web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript and CSS • Knowledge of common design patterns and best practices for application, mobile, and web design Pluses: • Ability to create functional, dynamic web prototypes using HTML5, CSS3, and JS/jQuery • Understanding of accessibility standards including Section 508, WCAG, and WAI-ARIA • Expertise with writing semantically-correct, cross-browser, lightweight HTML and CSS • Expertise with image editors such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator • Experience with working as part of a Scrum (or other agile methodology) development team • Understanding of front end engineering principles and experience with front end technologies and frameworks • A thorough understanding of grid-based layouts and UI frameworks like Twitter Bootstrap

We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to Jodi Forlizzi, Associate Professor at CMU’s HCI Institute and School of Design, for kicking off the PGH Usability Speaker Series last month with a wonderful presentation. We had a great turnout and Jodi’s insights into applying user enactments to find new design opportunities will certainly have us all looking for ways to utilize some of her strategies in our own research. Her examples of how her team has implemented these strategies were engaging, entertaining and thought-provoking.
