Seasons in Pittsburgh are usually based on the sport being played at the time rather than the weather outside! I'm proud to have sold quite a few of my "'burgh" pieces over the years. It's time for a few more....

Writing glass firing schedules is all about temps and times! The photos show the differences between a "tack" or "contour" fuse and a full fuse. Something to consider when designing your work. Glass has specific cooling rates for different thicknesses. Rushing thick pieces out of the kiln could leave stress in your glass, causing a completed piece to shatter - even days later! A proper firing schedule can eliminate a lot of tears! Please visit www.imkilnit.com and create something yourself!

So, I created a 3-later piece of the Pittsburgh skyline viewed from the west end bridge. Thicker pieces are "dammed up" in the kiln to prevent unwanted spreading of your glass.
