Senegal Chronicles

We had the opportunity to not only drum with these brothas, but also to witness them repair a drum. They spoke about the sacredness of the instrument and how they play a rhythm of a prayer of protection before any other rhythm them they close with prayer of gratitude.

Our art is historically purposeful and when we honor that in our practices, we are able to bring forward abundant blessings.

Known to be the saltiest body of water on earth, Lake Retba (also known as The Pink Lake due to its hur from the microbial content) is mined daily by workers in Senegal. They lather their body with shea butter before entering and can only work for 15 minute intervals.

I’ve been told about these blossoms for years. Finally made my way to photograph them.
