This past Saturday, we were joined by students from The Vira I. Heinz Program for Global Leadership for a day of stewardship at our Ohio River marina. These hardworking students helped to collect trash, remove knotweed rhizomes, and create educational materials. Thank you so much to our volunteers for a great day spent by the water!🌍

Take action today to protect the Clean Water Act! The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) opened an additional comment period on proposed revisions to the Clean Water Act’s Section 401 Water Quality Certification regulations. If finalized, the updated proposal will narrow what waterways are protected under the Clean Water Act.

This week's results are in! Our rotating site for Swim Guide this week was Jacks Run, a tributary to the Ohio River, and two of our thirteen sites met recreation standards. Find more information about our E. coli sampling efforts at 3rwk.org/swim

On Saturday we took community members on an eco-tour in our Waterkeeper boat on the Monongahela River for our 3 Rivers Watch training program. Starting in Elizabeth, we shared information about wastewater treatment facilities, acid mine drainage, and plastics pollution. We also talked about how to spot and report water pollution! But we also saw lots of native plants lining the banks and a squirrel swimming!
