Our mission is to protect the water quality of the Monongahela, Allegheny, and Ohio Rivers, and their respective watersheds.

Last Monday, we were out patrolling on the Allegheny River near Ford City. While exploring a nearby tributary, Crooked Creek, we saw lots of mussel shells and birds along the river's edge. We also checked in on a site with prior high-pH issues to follow up on remediation efforts. While there, we found another creek that appeared to be impacted by acid mine drainage (with a pH of 5.6).🐟︎

Three Rivers Waterkeeper routinely monitors permit applications for industries along our waterways. In doing so, we are able to advocate for changes that ensure there is accountability for pollution entering our rivers and to protect them for generations come.

This summer, we will be hosting a Pennsylvania Mountain Service Corps AmeriCorps, member-- Justin! Join us in welcoming Justin who will be serving as one of our PMSC Environmental Educators this summer!

My name is Justin and I am excited to join TRWK as an Environmental Educator! I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with an Environmental Studies degree last year and this fall I will be pursuing a Master's of City Planning at Georgia Tech. Some of my environmental interests include (but are not limited to) conservation, environmental justice, pollution reduction, and urban heat. In my free time, I love to play tennis, go on hikes, watch movies, go to concerts, and explore the great city of Pittsburgh!
