A doe and her fawn eating our hydrangeas. Welcome to the world, little one!

For 3 years we’ve been pulling these “weeds” by our lamp post. This year we’ve been too busy... and we’ve discovered they’re not weeds! There’s a life lesson in there somewhere...

2nd Owners - On July 9, 1951, Paul J. Kelly and Myrtle O. Kelly bought this home. Again, successful searches in the newspaper dictated that I search for "Mrs. Paul J. Kelly."

The first owner of Cottage-Upon-Avon was Margaret Ely. At some point her husband Fred W. Ely was added to the title. When I searched through the Pittsburgh Post Gazette archives, I could not find ANY mention of "Margaret Ely," which surprised me because I had heard she was active in the community. It finally occurred to me to search for "Mrs. Fred W. Ely"... and BOOM. She is ALL over the Post Gazette with announcements concerning the DORMONT NEW CENTURY CLUB. The photographs attached are samples.

Once upon a time, a gardner lived here... and I thank them every Spring for having the foresight to build a beautiful future they would never see.

As we listen (and dance to) Donna Summer... we both wish you a beautiful May evening!
It's 48 degrees outside; I'm snuggled under blankets drinking coffee; and an unknown number of teens are asleep upstairs after a night of fun and friendship. Life doesn't get much better than this. HAPPY WEEKEND!

As usual, when we get ready to hand off a home to the next family, we want to do it right. So, while I'll spare you the pics of the sewer line repair, here are some pics of the new shrubs, trees, and bushes that Keith INSISTED we replace since the deer ate some of the others. This home is filled with love and history... and we are proud to have been a (short) part of that history.
