It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our friend and former member, Kyle Lackey, passed away this Monday.
While many of us bond over our work behind the bar, Kyle bonded with us over his genuine love for what sits on the bar. He was a proud "Enthusiast" member—a title he wore well.
Our friend and former member Nancy Cannon shared a memory that captures Kyle perfectly. She first met him at the USBG Pig Roast in 2018. She recalls, "I was thrilled to have a word that described my membership and someone else in the group like me. Our enthusiast membership became our bond and foundation of our friendship."
When asked why he joined the Guild, Kyle famously said he saw it as something to do on his days off when the rest of the world was working—and it didn’t hurt that he enjoyed learning about the world of spirits and wine.
Kyle was fun, funny, and incredibly generous. Nancy remembers “after a USBG event Craig was picking us up as our ‘Uber’ driver when Kyle said he was hungry and did we want to get something to eat with him. We said yes and off to Alla Familia we went, his choice. At the end of the very late meal he insisted on paying the check.” That was just who he was.
We will miss his laugh and his presence at our events.
Arrangements & Tributes:
A celebration of Kyle’s life will be held at a future date. The family asks that you email [email protected] to stay informed on those details.
You can view his obituary here: https://www.snyderfh.com/obituary/Kyle-Lackey
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial tributes be made in Kyle’s name to a meaningful charity of your choice.
Rest easy, Kyle. Cheers to you. 🥃
