Grateful to be part of inspiring symposium Design Futures after Buddhism: Worldmaking by other means in collaboration with
My talk on the design of meditative soundscapes was inspired by CAMLab’s deeply moving multimedia exhibition “Journey to Enlightenment” an exploration of Buddhist sacred sites that beautifully conveys the very essence of spiritual transformation, compassion, and inter connectedness.
Visit the CAMLab exhibition if you can—it will be open through September.
So proud of our CMU Teaching Artists for their fun and engaging family concert at the Children’s Museum.
As part of an annual collaboration with Azure Family Concerts—a series for families with autism—students created and performed a Football-themed program in preparation for the NFL Draft full of audience participation and musical discoveries.
There was wonder and excitement at the Instrument Petting Zoo as children got to try the violin, flute, tuba, and drum set after the show.
Join us again next year!

Musicians enter sound practice with a clear and often underused advantage: they can perform. This workshop helps musicians leverage their performance skills in a sound bath setting.
We’ll explore how live voice and instruments function in immersive environments, what modifications are needed, how to choose repertoire, and how this differs from traditional performance. We’ll cover flow, improv, themed events, programming, and creating mindful concert experiences that integrate sound and music.

Sound isn’t just something we hear, it’s something we feel. Lower frequencies resonate strongly within the body and can make us feel more grounded, while higher tones tend to be more activating to the nervous system.
From a psychoacoustic perspective: In a sound bath, vibration and sound are both felt and heard simultaneously, and so the brain often senses that the sound is resonating from inside the body. This is why a sound bath experience can override your thought process, clear your mind, and draw you into a trance-like state.

On April 29th, we’ll gather once again at the beautiful Heinz Chapel to offer Pittsburgh’s largest sound bath. 35 musicians and sound practitioners will bring a unique blend of music and immersive soundscapes designed to melt stress and draw you inward.
During this 90-minute journey, you’ll also encounter transcendent melodies on violin, harp, flute, and voice, arising from the soundscape and dissolving back into silence—each offering a message of peace and lovingkindness.
We strongly encourage that you bring your own comfort items, such as a blanket or pillow. Tickets are now sold-out.
