💙 Hope you had a great weekend!

A new week is here, and we’re continuing to recognize some important August awareness months — National Civility Month, National Wellness Month, and National Dog Month! 🐾

As you head into the week, remember that making a difference doesn’t always require doing something big.

💙 Show someone a little kindness.
🌿 Do something good for your own well-being.
🐾 And give the dog an extra walk… or at least an extra treat. We’re pretty sure they’ll accept either. 😂

Here’s to a great week ahead and finding small ways to make our communities a little better along the way.

💙 August is filled with opportunities to make a difference.

This month, we recognize **National Civility Month, National Wellness Month, National Make-A-Will Month,** and **National Dog Month**—each reminding us that building stronger communities starts with everyday actions.

At WPSARDC, we believe in advocating for healthier, safer, and more connected communities.

🤝 Choose kindness and treat others with dignity.
🌿 Prioritize your physical and mental wellness.
📄 Plan ahead to protect the people you love.
🐾 Celebrate the animals that bring comfort, companionship, and support to our lives.

While these awareness months each have a different focus, they all share one common goal: encouraging us to care—for ourselves, our families, our neighbors, and our communities.

Throughout August, we'll be sharing tips, resources, and ways you can get involved as we continue working together to make our communities stronger, one day at a time.

Together, we can make a difference. 💙

🐾 August is National Dog Month! 🐾

National Dog Month is a reminder to celebrate our four-legged companions while also promoting responsible pet ownership.

This month, take a few minutes to:
🐶 Schedule a wellness exam if your dog is due.
💧 Make sure they have plenty of fresh water during the summer heat.
🏷️ Check that their ID tags and microchip information are up to date.
🚶 Give them daily exercise and mental enrichment.
❤️ Spend a little extra quality time together.

Healthy dogs make happier families and stronger communities.

📸 We'd love to see your best friend! Share a photo of your dog in the comments and tell us their name.

🏈🏒 Football and hockey season are almost here, Pittsburgh!

Soon we’ll be cheering in packed stadiums and arenas, celebrating with friends, and enjoying all the excitement that comes with game day.

Large crowds are a great time to remember one important thing: awareness matters.

Before you head out to support your favorite team, take a few minutes to visit IAMONWATCH.org. Learn the warning signs of human trafficking and how to safely respond if something doesn’t seem right.

Learn it for the game. Carry it for a lifetime.

Together, we can help make every game day a little safer for everyone.

🌿 August is also National Wellness Month! 🌿

Wellness looks different for everyone—and that's something to celebrate! It might mean taking a walk, practicing yoga, swimming, hiking, riding your bike, reading a book outdoors, spending time with loved ones, or simply doing something that brings you joy.

Looking for a place to start? Explore one of Pittsburgh's great parks:

🌲 North: North Park
🌿 East: Frick Park
🌸 Central: Schenley Park
🌼 West: Allegheny Commons West Park
🌅 South: South Park

📸 We'd love to see how you're celebrating National Wellness Month! Share a photo in the comments of you enjoying the outdoors, staying active, or doing something that makes you happy.

Here's to a healthy, happy August, Pittsburgh! 💙

📄 Along with National Civility Month, August is also National Make-A-Will Month.

Creating a will is one of the most thoughtful gifts you can leave your loved ones. It helps ensure your wishes are known and can make a difficult time a little easier for those you leave behind.

✔️ Choose a trusted executor.
✔️ Name a guardian for minor children.
✔️ Review your will after major life changes.

If you don't have a will—or it's been years since you've updated it—August is a great time to start.

Civility isn't always about grand gestures.

Sometimes it's as simple as returning your buggy.

Small acts of respect and consideration help keep our communities cleaner, safer, and a little kinder for everyone.

Happy Monday! Let's have a great week, Pittsburgh. 💙

As we say goodbye to Social Wellness Month, we welcome National Civility Month.

Social wellness reminds us to build connections. Civility reminds us how to strengthen them—with kindness, respect, and dignity.

Sometimes civility looks like holding the door for a stranger, waving someone into traffic, listening without interrupting, thanking a cashier, checking on a neighbor, or simply choosing kindness when it's easier not to.

In Pittsburgh, we're more than neighbors—we're a community. This August, let's continue building a stronger, kinder city, one small act of respect at a time.

Together, those little moments can make a big difference. 💙
