Guys I’ve been playing euphonium for over 20 years now.

Go out and be a nerd with your friends about the things you love. You’ll find it more rewarding than beating the “cringe” allegations.
Find your village, your people. Love what you do and lean into its fun, quirky moments. Life is more rich that way.
And sometimes you pay a stupid amount of money to fly across the country for 4 days to spend time at a video game conference with new friends and old and you cry and you laugh and you walk a lot and you have a great time and you’d do it all over again in a second.

Sure you can play the horn. But do you know what makes you stand out? What makes you unique?
Do you have your own musical style? A distinct sound? Could I pick you out amongst a group of your peers based only on that style?
In my eyes, it’s as important as being able to technically play the horn. Everyone’s always developing it, whenever they play, but are you aware of it? Are you consciously growing it?
Just think about it, you’re the only you out there. Why not sound like it?
