World Town Planning Day World Town Planning Day, celebrated around the world each November, is a special day to recognize and promote the role of planning in creating livable communities.

The final public meeting to learn about the Allegheny County Climate Action Plan and to provide direct feedback will be on Wednesday, October 29, at 6:00 pm, at the Glassport Municipal Building.

On Pittsburgh 2050—the 'Burgh's first citywide comprehensive plan—Christine Mondor frames the challenge this way:
“We need to set a north star that’s durable and then talk about ways we can move in the short term and the direction we want to go in the long term.”

At this week's Green Building Alliance Innovation Expo brought together local sustainability and climate justice leaders gathered with residents and peers to explore exactly that vision. Christine told NEXTpittsburgh that engaging the GBA network is crucial to aligning Pittsburgh’s future infrastructure with the housing and environmental goals of the plan.

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank consistently shows us how food justice and environmental sustainability go hand-in-hand. Their renovation and expansion project has just achieved LEED Gold certification and features green technologies and on-site food and energy production. It has been a privilege to work with the Food Bank for decades on implementing sustainable design and operations in support of their mission to end hunger in the Pittsburgh region!
