Two hours until commencement. ๐
The Class of 2026 leaves behind more than a wall.
They leave behind a legacy of leadership, advocacy, collaboration, and school pride.
Every block tells an individual story.
Together, they tell the story of a class that showed up for one another and left their mark on SciTech.
We can't wait to celebrate you today.
๐๐ค Your proud Principal,
Dr. Johnson

The First Inaugural SciTech Middle School House Competition ended yesterday with a crowning of our point total champion: Altruismo! The tight race between Amistad and Altruismo came down to a completion of additional Math assignments by top point earner for all houses, Naphtali Avishai!
All members of Altruismo received medals sponsored by the SciTech PTO and hoisted the SciTech Middle School house cup sponsored by our very own Mr. Chambers (probably because he thought his house would pull out the win ๐
). The SciTech PTO also provided a cup of Rita's for ALL middle school students in the closest possible colors of Altruismo house in white and black cherry (black).
Additional prizes were awarded for the top point earner in each house:
Isibindi - Floyd Pearson
Rรชveur - Maaziq Islam
Amistad - Conrad Carlson
Altruismo - Naphtali Avishai

Last week, two students competed at the state level of PJAS (Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science)!
To qualify for states, students first had to earn a 1st place award at the regional competition held this past February.
Congratulations to our ThunderSharks on this incredible accomplishment! ๐ฆ๐๐

Check out SciTech in the news! https://lacc.lasaweb.org/school_visits_march/
In March, Ms. Santana Euguiโs College in High School Spanish students brought the past to life by creating narrated timelines that explored the historical context behind influential works of art - all in Spanish!
Our visit to the โLatin American Cultural Centerโ gave students the chance to step outside the classroom and immerse themselves in the art, culture, and stories of the Spanish-speaking world. โจ
One of the highlights? A fully immersive guided tour in Spanish led by Dr. Manuel A. Roman-Lacayo! Students analyzed artwork, connected historical events, and practiced past-time narration while engaging with diverse artistic traditions from across Latin America.
Experiences like these show that language learning goes far beyond textbooks; itโs about making real-world cultural connections. ๐

In our Nature Unit, Spanish 4 students learned about Pachamama and how Andean communities interact with the nature. To celebrate Earth Day on April 22, students had fun sharing photos of themselves picking up trash, cleaning the environment, or planting flowers and plants. They enjoyed asking and answering questions in Spanish about their Earth Day projects. A special thank you to the ambassadors from Pittโs Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) for visiting our classes and leading a fun, interactive Spanish presentation about diverse ecosystems in the Americas and climate change. Students also enjoyed learning how to make paper flowers! ๐ฑ๐ฟ
