Congratulations to Fall 2025 Team ReNuShu on being named a finalist at the Games For Change Awards at this year’s !
Utilizing Magnes AG’s NuShu smart shoes, the team designed a series of exercise games meant to transform physical therapy from a boring, repetitive experience to an entertaining and engaging one.
The student team worked closely with both researchers and physical therapists throughout the development process to ensure that the playable prototype had value beyond the classroom.
Members of the team will attend the Games for Change Festival in NYC next month, where the final awards will be announced 👾✨

The spring semester may be over, but we're still not done celebrating the achievements of our students, faculty, and staff!
🥏 Assistant Teaching Professor Vivian Shen played in Pittsburgh's first-ever professional women's ultimate frisbee team, and ETC community members Jonathan Walton, Cayla Kennedy, José Mireles Macario, Charlie Forster, and Devika Santosh showed up to cheer her on.
🇫🇷 Team TACIT — represented by Ming-Fen Chung, Winnie Tsai, Chih-I Chou, and Michael Wong — showcased their work at Laval Virtual in Paris.
🧠 Samantha Lai received a CS+X grant from The Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry for research on attention states in interactive experiences that will be on display this summer in SIGGRAPH Conferences's Immersive Pavillion.
🎓 José also presented his work on the CAVERN at Carnegie Mellon University's Scholar to Scholar Graduate Program Showcase.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026’s student awardees: Anne Humphreys Memorial Award winner Moe Aguilar, Tornado Award winner Junjing Ruan, and Randy Pausch Award winner Ming-Fen Chung!
Our annual student awards are given to members of the graduating class who embody what the ETC’s all about: serving their community, taking risks, and being a leader.
We’re so proud of all three of this year’s winners, and we’re so excited to see how they change the world going forward ❤️
“You have a whole career in front of you to find your voice, find your passion. Meet other excited, passionate people and make something really cool for the world to experience.”
Naughty Dog Studio Head & Head of Creative and 2005 ETC graduate Neil Druckmann — AKA creator of “The Last of Us” — has a message for this year’s graduates.
Happy 25th birthday, ETC 🎂🎮
We teamed up with 2016 ETC alum Jaehee Cho (and his company Orta Interactive Studio) to celebrate the occasion with a special video.

We’re excited to share an update: the ETC@25 crowdfunding campaign has been extended to May 4 at 11:59 p.m. E.T.!
Thanks to the incredible momentum from our community, there’s still time to get involved and help us finish strong.
Donate by May 4 and your impact will quite literally be doubled through Neil Druckmann’s $25k match. That means twice the support for ETC students, twice the resources for ETC events, and twice the fun for the whole community.
You’ll also get some cool swag out of it too. Contribute $2,500+ and we’ll send you a beautiful, ready-to-frame poster featuring 25 years of BVW logos.
We’re so thankful for all the support we’ve received already, and we’re excited to keep building on it in this final stretch.

Our crowdfunding campaign, ETC@25: Press Play on the Future is halfway through!
Keeping the momentum going matters right now. Naughty Dog Studio Head and Head of Creative Neil Druckmann (ETC ’05) has committed to a $25,000 matching gift. This means that only when we reach $25,000 will his full match unlock, doubling the impact for ETC students.
Every gift – no matter how small — gets us a little closer to the goal.
Many employers will match your contribution too, meaning your gift can go even further if you ask.
The campaign ends May 1st, and now is the moment to contribute and help us ensure the future of the ETC.
