Weekly Wisdom from Brother Rashad.

It's easy to take youth for granted. The energy, health, vision, and opportunities we have today won't always be here. Value them, use them with purpose, and make the most of this season of life.

"Guard and appreciate your health, your energy, your idealism, and your youth while you have it."

If you or someone you know could benefit from fresh produce and pantry essentials, come see us TODAY at 11 AM.

No one should have to face food insecurity alone.

“The true measure of a community is how it cares for its people.”

In 1969, the People’s Free Food Program was created to meet an immediate need: ensuring that no one in the community went hungry. It became a powerful example of what can happen when people come together to support one another.

More than 50 years later, that spirit lives on.

Tomorrow, Community Empowerment Association will continue that legacy through The People’s Food Pantry, providing fresh produce and pantry essentials to families in our community.

Some people celebrate a birthday by reflecting on what they've accomplished.

Brother Rashad Byrdsong celebrates by thinking about what more can be done for the community.

Today we honor Brother Rashad on his 77th birthday and recognize 33 years of service through the Community Empowerment Association.

For more than three decades, he has dedicated himself to supporting youth, strengthening families, creating opportunities, and empowering communities throughout Pittsburgh.

His work reminds us that real leadership isn't measured by titles or recognition, but by the lives impacted along the way.

Please join us in wishing Brother Rashad a happy birthday and thanking him for his continued commitment to serving others.

Happy Birthday, Brother Rashad.

Real change doesn’t happen when people work alone; it happens when people come together around a common purpose.

Brother Rashad challenges us to think beyond individual causes and focus on building a collective platform for social justice. A confederation can look like community organizations, faith leaders, educators, activists, and everyday residents working together to address the issues that impact us all.

When we unite our voices, resources, and efforts, we create change that no single person or group can accomplish alone.

The future we want will require collaboration, commitment, and community.

As Brother Rashad reminds us, it’s time to do for ourselves.

According to the American Heart Association, 80% of cardiovascular diseases are preventable with education, routine checkups, and healthy lifestyle changes. Yet, heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women in the U.S.

We are changing that narrative through action and education. Preventative healthcare isn't just going to the doctor, but also equipping yourself with the tools and knowledge to protect your future.

Join us this Saturday, May 30, 2026, for the Women's Empowerment Event.
The event starts at 11 AM. Free Event - RSVP appreciated

The blueprint for our future is being written, and we are the only ones holding the pen.

Activist Kwame Ture declared, "Black power is the ability of black people to politically, economically, and socially define and control their own destinies."

Activist Angela Davis declared, "I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept."

Check out what our founder & leader, Brother Rashad, declares below.
We are the answer we’ve been waiting for. It's time to BE THE CHANGE
