What are the GEE! Awards?
The GEE! Learning Game Awards, named after renowned learning scientist James Paul Gee, celebrate excellence in game-based learning. Hosted by the Play Make Learn conference, these awards honor games that:

Are grounded in learning science
Promote deep understanding
Support meaningful engagement
Align with real-world learning goals

Games are reviewed by a diverse panel of experts in education, research, media, and design. This year’s jury includes representatives from PBS Kids, university labs, and educational game studios.

Being recognized as a finalist means Crown & Capital meets high standards for both instructional impact and engaging design—a testament to our team’s commitment to accessible, standards-aligned learning.

Our new Summer Apprentices create, collaborate, and pitch their own games, developing real-world skills through hands on experience in our Summer Apprenticeship for Game Design and Development.

We were excited to see the Summer Apprentices work with John Balash, from Carnegie Mellon University's Center for Transformational Play and Entertainment Technology Center, as he led them through an engaging, educational Lego session. John focused on teamwork, communication, and creative problem solving, helping Summer Apprentices prepare to present their work to first, industry professionals at Simcoach and next up, the professional world!

We are proud to be a guide to the next generation of creators, and this is only the beginning.

Our new Summer Apprentices dove right into building employability skills with a dynamic improv session led by Steel City Improv Theater. These sessions are all about building the essential soft skills for effective teamwork.

Check out these moments of creativity and collaboration as our Summer Apprentices embraced the spirit of improvisation on their very first day!

We can't wait to see how they use these skills to build game prototypes for financial literacy, vocational skills, and behavioral health.

We're thrilled to announce the kickoff of our 2025 Summer Apprenticeship Program at Simcoach Games! This year, we're welcoming 32 talented, young adults who will embark on a six-week journey into the world of game design and development. They will be mentored along the way as they make game prototypes for players to learn through play.

Throughout this Registered Pre-apprenticeship program, our Summer Apprentices will tackle real-world problems using video games, all while gaining valuable hands-on experience working with industry professionals in the company’s studio environment. Plus, they'll be honing essential soft skills for their future careers.
