FBI Pittsburgh is already hard at work with our partners to protect events celebrating America’s 250th birthday. This week, we met with officials in Canonsburg, PA, who are preparing for one of the largest Fourth of July parades ever! YOUR FBI is actively engaging on all fronts to Defend the Homeland to ensure you, your family, your friends, neighbors, and more can safely celebrate.

Our mission is to protect the American people and uphold the Constitution. We take it seriously, and we’re all in on making sure that continues for the next 250 years.

FBI Pittsburgh and our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners teamed up for a coordinated tactical operation Friday morning resulting in the takedown of a drug trafficking organization in Lawrence County.

Two tactical teams and other non-tactical squads executed search and arrest warrants at three locations in the New Castle area related to a large-scale drug trafficking organization. This joint enforcement effort resulted in five arrests and the seizure of over half a dozen fi****ms, tens of thousands of dollars in drug proceeds, a large quantity of co***ne, and a quantity of fentanyl.

Thank you to all of our partners for your assistance in this investigation and operation.

“The FBI and our local, state, and federal partners state loud and clear: crime will pay a heavy price in this region, and we will not stop in the pursuit of keeping your community safe.”

FBI Pittsburgh was joined by Director Patel and local, state, and federal partners to announce the results of Operation Turf War. This takedown of 30+ subjects focused on two violent, multi-state drug trafficking operations selling large quantities of illegal drugs in West Virginia and Maryland.

The FBI, led by Director Patel, and our local, state, and federal partners are proud to announce a major victory in our efforts to Crush Violent Crime: the takedown of a wide-ranging violent drug trafficking organization. We’re sending a clear message to those who think they can bring poison and violence to our communities – your days are numbered. This will not rest until every neighborhood is safe and free from the grip of violent crime.

“To those who think they can ship dangerous drugs into the heart of our community, no matter how sophisticated the operation, the FBI and our partners will pursue you across time zones and international borders to protect the American people.”

FBI Pittsburgh, FBI Buffalo, FBI Cleveland, our Homeland Security Task Force partners, and our Erie Area Gang Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Safe Streets Task Force disrupted and dismantled an international drug trafficking organization fueling addiction, violence, and poison across parts of the Great Lakes. Arrests spanned parts of three states in a coordinated operation to find those responsible and take them into custody.

This case is more than just arrests, though. While the investigation continues, the and our partners will stop at nothing to ensure we protect our families, save lives, and rid the community of drugs. The Erie area is safer today because of this effort.

SENTENCED: As a result of an investigation by FBI Pittsburgh and our federal partners, a Jamaican national was sentenced to 54 months in prison after scamming elderly victims out of their hard-earned money.

As part of the scam, Tajay Singh and his conspirators called elderly victims, tricked them into thinking they had won a lottery, and said taxes and fees needed paid. Money was sent and the victims never received their prize money.

Have conversations with your family, friends, and neighbors on how to spot scams, and protect yourself and your money with the resources at fbi.gov/scams.

Yesterday, FBI Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge Richard Evanchec and Assistant United States Attorney Kelly Lochler participated in a cyber security panel discussion on ransomware at a conference in Pittsburgh.

The and our partners cannot stress enough the importance of your business investing in cyber security. This past winter, the FBI Cyber Division launched Operation Winter Shield, reminding companies of the best ways to protect data and operations:

• Adopt phish-resistant authentication
• Implement a risk-based vulnerability management program
• Track & retire end-of-life tech on a schedule
• Manage third-party risk
• Exercise your incident response with all stakeholders
