🌎💚 Celebrating International Youth Day!

Today, August 12, we join communities around the world in recognizing International Youth Day and celebrating the contributions, potential, and impact of young people.

This summer, we saw that impact firsthand when Rocco and Chris, two University of Notre Dame students who volunteer with First Tee – Indiana, spent time with our Teen Academy while home in Pittsburgh.

Their willingness to give back, mentor younger participants, and share their enthusiasm for the game is a great reminder that young people aren’t just the leaders of tomorrow — they’re making a difference today.

We’re grateful for young leaders like Rocco and Chris and for all of the teens throughout the First Tee network who are learning, leading, serving, and strengthening their communities.

📣 Invitational Volunteers Needed! ⛳️💚

We’re expecting well over 100 participants for this year’s First Tee – Pittsburgh Invitational this Saturday, and we need your help to make it an incredible day for our kids!

There are plenty of ways to lend a hand, including:

⛳ Walking scorers for our 3-hole and 6-hole divisions
📝 Registration support
🍦 Handing out ice cream and refreshments
🍔 Assisting with concession orders and payments
🙌 Setup, breakdown, and general event support

Volunteer shifts begin as early as 7:30 AM, and whether you can give us a few hours or stay for the full event, we’d love to have you!

As a thank-you, every volunteer will receive a commemorative 25th Anniversary First Tee – Pittsburgh T-shirt 👕 plus a free meal from concessions.

Events like the Invitational are only possible because of people who give their time to help create memorable experiences for our participants. We hope you’ll join us!

Golf — and life — doesn’t always go according to plan. Whether it’s rain, heat, or changing conditions, our participants are learning to adapt, stay positive, and keep moving forward.

Those moments are about more than golf. They’re opportunities to build resilience, confidence, and problem-solving skills that carry far beyond the course.

Keep the momentum going this fall with First Tee – Pittsburgh! Our six-week program gives young people ages 5–18 the opportunity to develop golf skills, build confidence, and grow life skills in a fun, welcoming environment.
Programs begin the week of August 31 at locations across the Greater Pittsburgh area. Golf equipment is provided, and financial assistance is available to help make participation accessible.

💚 A $100,000 investment in Pittsburgh's youth!

We are incredibly grateful to the AEO Better World Foundation for awarding First Tee – Pittsburgh a $100,000 grant that will help us expand our impact across the region.

This generous investment will support:
📚 Expanded in-school programming
⛳ More out-of-school opportunities
🏡 Facility upgrades that enhance the experience for every participant

Because of partners like the AEO Better World Foundation and American Eagle, even more young people will have opportunities to build confidence, develop life skills, and discover their potential through the game of golf.

🪜 Every great accomplishment starts with the first rung of the ladder.

Today's Teen Academy lesson challenged participants to think about where they want to go—and how they'll get there.

Using a Goal Ladder, each teen identified a meaningful goal, broke it down into manageable steps, and celebrated the progress they'll make along the way. Because success isn't about taking one giant leap—it's about consistently climbing one step at a time.

At First Tee – Pittsburgh, we know the lessons learned off the course are just as valuable as those learned on it. Whether it's setting goals, building confidence, or creating a plan for the future, our participants are developing skills they'll carry with them for years to come.

We're proud of the thought, creativity, and determination they brought to today's activity. 💙⛳

☀️ Just TWO weeks of First Tee Summer Camps remain!

It's hard to believe we're already heading into the final stretch of summer camp!

Today's camp was packed with summer fun—hot dogs, freeze pops, and one of our favorite activities: the SNAG Golf Sticky Suit Challenge! 🎯

The biggest hit? Our Junior Volunteer Coaches suited up in the sticky suits and let campers take aim! Their energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to jump right into the fun is just one of the many reasons they make such incredible role models for our younger participants.

These moments are about so much more than golf. They're about building confidence, creating connections, and making summer memories that will last a lifetime.

We're looking forward to making these final two weeks the best yet! ⛳💙
